Yoshi-P says discussions about FFXIV on Switch and Xbox One are "Positive"

If the Switch was going to hold back the game like the PS3 did Yoshi P wouldn't be having this discussion. The Switch's CPU/GPU while weaker than PS4/Xbox One are much more modern than PS3's. In any event I'm confident Switch would run the game better than some of the low spec laptops currently running the game.

Things have changed now with Microsoft and Nintendo. Both sides now are more in line with playing well with cross platform play like how Minecraft will be cross platform play with Xbox and Switch. Sony though, is not letting it happen on any game it seems. I know before Microsoft was a no go and wanted their own servers. But I believe now it's more in Sony's court since they would have to let cross platform play between PC PS4 Switch and Xbox one. And of course, they aren't so keen to let it happen as they feel they don't need to b/c they're on top at the moment.

'scuse you? I'm acually doing quite well with my PS4. Apologies that I cannot afford a laptop that's out of my budget to run this - a laptop not for schooling is not an option for me.

PC's will always be the master race. It's not the early '90s anymore.

Don't do a gaming laptop though, go desktop, self built ideally, you can upgrade later and use it for years longer.

Isn't the main selling point of the Switch the portability?

Zelda is one of my most fav games and that new Mario looks great but I would not use Switch as my 'main console', mostly as secondary. Also certain games like 'I am Setsuna' for example are just nice to play as 'handheld device' game.

I just don't see how FF XIV would fit on the Switch given how it was brought to the public by Nintendo. It's a portable handheld device that can output the screen to a TV in addition.

How would one play this game while on the GO?
I don't see many people using the Switch 24/7 at home while they have the much more powerful PC/PS4 sitting there?
I just don't think there are many people who use the Switch as their main console and would be a waste of time/resources for SE to cater for a low userbase.

Then I haven't even talked about the specs... I wonder how the Switch will deal with alliance raids. 4 man party dungeon will already be over the top. Fly mount in big open wide areas in SB.. distance details should be fully removed and just put a green colour (or gray/brown ish for rocks) for grass, etc.

PSN limitation in other games is already bad enough. Would be great if MS and Nintendo allow SE to manage their own players and servers. Only thing im looking forward to this news is to play with the tv remote, but of course they will also limit other game options.
