Thoughts From Ex-Balmung Players?

So looking through the never-ending and ever-growing number of threads on Balmung, I felt like a thread with a higher level of credibility was required....I know, not exactly the best place for it, but oh well.

What I'm more curious about are the views from players that were on Balmung for some amount of time and have left to another server as well as whatever reason(s) those players had for leaving. Honestly couldn't care less about the thoughts of players either still on Balmung or who have never been there but hate on it because they can (because those threads are still going here), just want the opinions here of those who were there, but no longer.

You're probably going to get a mixed bag of responses on the matter. I knew some people who left because their friends were on other servers or because they wanted a competitive market edge on the smaller servers that they couldn't have here. While some others regret moving. I also know a few people who will swear up and down we're the worst server imaginable and that they wish they never joined in the first place. (And a few of those who we here are glad are gone because some were the problem children who got our server a bad rap in the first place.)

I can't comment since I'm still on Balmung, though I have several alts on Mateus and Gilgamesh, but that's generally been my experience in regards to those who left. Still this will be an interesting thread to watch.

I am happy to announce that 4.2 will bring a myriad of changes to the world of Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, such as the deletion of Balmung. We would like to improve the gaming experience for new players by making the community a more pleasant place to interact in. We also felt that the population for the female Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te was too high, so we decided to tackle the issue at it's source and delete Balmung as well as the players in it.

You may also want to widen the range and ask roleplayers who created their toons on Gilgamesh when ARR launched instead of Balmung because they didn't want to compete against established players on a Legacy server.

Can't comment directly, as I've been on Balmung since Besaid folded into it, but I will say this. Of the people I've known that left the server during hell queues, there are a good number that regret it and will transfer back the moment it's unlocked. At the same time, a good number have happily dug in on their new server of choice (99% on Matteus), so take it for what you will.

I don't regret moving despite paying to get on there in the first place.
It was far too overcrowded for my tastes and I had to leave due to the amazing 9000+ queues of stormblood and the ''never being able to play once I got in'' and being kicked every few minutes by the game. :c
Oh and the servers move made my ping jump up super high so I had to adjust to avoiding aoes seconds before they appeared.
I hope its in a better place now but geez, I do not miss those times.
I definitely don't think its in the right place to be unlocked if the numbers on the census are anything to go by plus I would feel rather salty if they unlocked Balmung before Omega. >:/

I left due to the server congestion, and not being able to play, during SB. In hindsight, I regret it since I haven't been enjoying the game much since leaving.

I played on Balmung since its creation until the real EU servers were created, and that's when we moved with our FC. Haven't missed it even one second (of course, all the people I might miss moved with me). No queues or any server issues and the people have been great for the most part. We also made tons of gil moving servers.

I didn't leave Balmung, but the friends who did admitted to have regretted it.

I use to be on Balmung and honestly I do regret it.

I left for personal reasons that I don't feel belong in a thread such as this, but I think at the end of the day I ultimately regret the decision to leave. I realize what I had there was fine and now I struggle to rebuild myself in a server where I know nobody. If I could go back, I probably would unless I manage to improve my new server situation.
