It doesn't take 300 seconds to compare. But the question is does the group stop at any point in that 300 seconds for you to actually take a few seconds to compare

This game is all about speed runs at the minute so no-one stops for anything especially loot. If you open the loot chest after a boss and look to compare that drop next thing you know your tanks dead or something such. Be it cos you weren't healing or you didn't kill enough of the next trash pull to make the damage manageable when cooldowns wore off.

You may have stopped to compare but the rest of the group certainly didn't.
