A "returning player" WHM, clearly new to Keeper of the Lake, yet doesn't say a word about it or even ask for advice. DRK does a large, yet easily manageable pull of 7 mobs, almost dies because this WHM is spamming Cure III, and then the DRK starts questioning themself.

And then this WHM complains about lack of MP. When spamming Cure III.

I should've known better than to say anything, I really should've. But nope, instead I told them not to use Cure III, pointing out that it heals less than Cure II.

And so this WHM decided to state "I'm the healer" and "Stick to your own job". Then dies halfway through the first boss, forcing us to carry them hardcore, dies at the last 10% or so of the second boss, forcing us to carry them some more, then dies twice to Middy's ultimate, causing us to wipe twice more, and on our final, successful attempt, dies again, halfway through the second Mirage Dragon, forcing us to carry them even. More.

After that, the DRK and NIN both went "good job", and I found myself at a loss for words. So really, if there's any wonder why I hate newbies, it's because of newbies like this WHM.

And as final bonus a 0 comm.

    Ahhh the feeling

Edit: the 2 ppl were one tank and one dps. The other tank were thinking it is a good idea to do his dps in front of the boss, eating all and every cleave and skill, making me to point heal two targets instead of one. Yesss, healing so boring that finally someone gives me more work to do. The other healer was unexistant, dying on every thing happens, feels he wants suicide every time it is possible.
I can relate to this, and induces a-many Titan HM flashbacks. On one 'memorable' run, a BLM that I raised three times had to nerve to tell me, "Do you not have Physick?" My response was, "I do. Do you not have dodge?" This guy was clearly a 'heal me through the fire so I can keep up muh deeps' type BLM. Even if I was willing to do that, it's a little difficult when you constantly get one-shotted by bombs and plumes. That was a very ugly run, and only myself and one tank was left at the clear. As a healer, you already feel bad that you are surrounded by dead bodies whether it is your fault or not.

But yeah, getting zero comms after you know you saved the run is like a slap in the face. In these particular cases, it is perfectly acceptable to pat yourself on the back!

I have a bit of an old one to share, but it's one of my more memorable worst-experiences.

I play DPS primarily, but then I decided to try out healing. I picked up WHM and got through the first set of dungeons (Sastasha-Praetorium) no sweat. Great parties, great tanks, good experiences.

Then one day, I queued for a roulette (50/60) and got Halitali (Hard). At the time, I had only done it once as a DPS, but no biggie, I could figure it out again.

Tank darts off, barely staying in range of my protect cast. So I run after him, and he's outside of regen range as he's pulling. I can't throw my regen on him, he's pulled a bunch of packs and we wipe. Now I'm embarrassed. I had never wiped before as a healer. This was my fault.

    (continued because story too long...)

    (...the rest of the story)

So we all respawn, I get my protect off, he darts off, and I say "Small pulls please! " Tank's response to that was to do the same thing he did before, while saying "We're over geared. I'm pulling 3 packs. Keep up."

The rest of the dungeon was pure agony, and I don't say that facetiously; I did not want to be there anymore. I was always panicked, didn't learn the boss mechanics, and permanent tilt for healing.

In hindsight, we actually blew through the dungeon rather quickly, but that didn't stop the tank from complaining that it was too slow in the end.

Today I'm level 70 and I can heal anything now. Things are great! Never recovered from this, but I can enjoy it at least. After this, I went on to heal Keeper of the Lake the next day without incident.

So, normal low level dungeons, expect everything to go smooth because they are quick and easy...

Tank that doesn't use any enmity skills except for flash once every battle, didn't do the mechanics, and only attacked one enemy. Now I am very patient (I'm patient in general) with low level dungeons because some players are new, but I don't know what was going on there, maybe lagging or completely new to games like this? I was going to tell him nicely that he needs to keep enmity off of me the healer and the dps but there was awkward silence through the whole dungeon run.

And on top of that there was an archer who kept running ahead and practically tanked the bosses.

I know it's not a big deal but it's frustrating when people can't follow mechanics or simple rules of their class/job. (Been playing this game for over 2 years and when I was new I remember I always looked up mechanics and stuff to make sure I would play okay, but not everybody is like that)

Yeah, bad experiences can put people off from jobs or at the very least diminish their enthusiasm and confidence for playing a job.

As for longer stories, you can get around the character limit by editing the original post. In edit mode what you type can be super long. For example, I will write my post, cut the text, and type something short like a string of a particular character, post that, hit edit post, then paste the actual reply over the temp post.

Plus it inspired me to take up gladiator so I could have a better understanding of how tanking worked, and also how I needed to interact with it as a non-tank.
For what it's worth, at least when I last ran archer/bard in low level stuff, they could rip hate from unprepared tanks like crazy. Actually made a game of it once in Toto-rak, where the tank and I were basically challenging each other to have hate. The tank won, but he did appreciate the challenge (I did ask after a point if it was okay and he said yes.)

It’ll be a great time.
The honor would be mine, Kacho. If you do your roulettes, perhaps one of these moons. Blood will be spilt before I let any mobs turn you into a tasty treat

People that I'm encountering and I are constantly dying to stuff that we shouldn't be dying to, because of lag.

Think you've moved in or out of the zombie sludge during the second boss of WC? Nope.
Think you've gotten clear out of the way of Nidhogg's Cauterize? No, but at least your corpse is way off to the side where the healers have to get to you, assuming they survived.
Think that you're using your defensive cooldowns, your heals, or your attacks to bring down monsters/bosses? Funny thing, but no, no you're not.

This has been THE nightmare for a lot of people, I'm sure, over the past week.

I feel your pain. I have bad lag on a normal day, but once I have a fight memorized well enough I've learned to anticipate and compensate for it. I literally can't this week. By the time I see AOE coming it has already hit me, half the time my OGCs don't activate unless I spam the button for 4 seconds (or longer - and of course the thing about these is you want them the second you hit the darn things). It's pretty devastating to your confidence in the long run. I get they're trying to fix it with what resources they have, but I think the head company needs to smarten up and invest more in ff14 to fix shite like this. >.<
