The issue i have with this sentiment is how the game operates now. If we were still on the old chance of sp per action then this argument would hold some weight. Early on having a high shield level meant something and was cause for a bit of celebration when some one gained a new skill. these days you strap a shield to any class capable of using one and the skills just show up eventually.
actually Neptune kind of is.No-one is asking for GLA to be leveled for free as 'payment' for losing shield skills,
If the shield skills are staple of peoples play style and they have zero levels into glad. Once the new ability pools are announced they will have from that time till patch day to equip a sword and play whack a mob to get to the point where there style can continue on uninterrupted. Its the same for every body else no mater what they consider there main. Well except for the really bored people with every thing at 50.so while I admit most 50 CNJ/THM will already have Sentinel, there will be a lot who are still adversely affected by the changes.

No, it's definitely your problem. You are the one who has issue with it, despite the fact that they're giving us plenty of notice ahead of time. Your argument would be valid if those changes were announced in the 1.21 patch notes as it was going up. But considering the fact that we have time to plan accordingly now, in addition to the fact that leveling is not that hard these days, one should really find an actual constructive solution instead of bitching on the forums constantly. Your Thaum is at 43 anyway, you could hit 50 in a single stronghold group.
I think the game is getting really good tbh. I didnt like it up until now i welcome the changes and will continue to play from now on.
Your posts may have been "designed" for what you think is the 97% of players that quit. But I'm sure 197% of the members quit because of your posts.
I can make up stats too.
You say you've offered solutions to the dev team, but they weren't solutions they were HORRIBLE ideas.
On topic: I disagree with everything the OP said. Stop crying and play the game the devs design with for the 97% of people that stay.
Learn to play CON the way its designed or play a different class.

Drastically alter the rules. Get rid of the Armoury System in place of something tested and proven to work. The XI system.
Keep the ability to swap weapons -> class/jobs/roles. That actually makes sense.
You whine to much, just level glad for the shield abilities and stay on con instead of switching over to white mage, and then you can continue as you have been. Or you could just level black mage.
And I completely agree with this.
Forgive me if this has been posted already, but I wasn't about to go through 12 pages of posts ^^;. Anywho, with regards to the "I started Conjurer to be an offensive elemental caster" I would like to refer to the fact that you don't HAVE to play the job, you can still party as a CON without WHM and be the role you want. Now, no one may party with you if you're set in those beliefs because the deem it unnecessary, but there is always that freedom of choice (and, consequently, the freedom of everyone else's choice to not party with you).
From one of the many interviews:
If you want to read the whole thing, go here.Obviously, the question is what's different between a class and a job. After discussing with the battle team how we wanted to do this, we decided that for light parties and casual play, we wanted players using the class system where you can freely mix and match abilities to make an all-around type of character. Jobs we want to make more specialized, like you see in a lot of other MMOs, such as where the Paladin would be designed as a tank [...] The best way of thinking about it is probably two different modes of character fighting style depending on what type of content you'll be playing.
