So half an hour before reset, Expert Roulette popped for me. Skalla. I was glad I was BLM, because that means I can at least guarantee that I had decent DPS. And the RDM was ilvl 330+, the DRK about ilvl 320+, and the WHM had ilvl 325-330, based on their HP relative to mine. So I cheered, because 30 minutes is plenty of time to get Skalla done.

On the contrary, we were done with that run in 20 minutes. I wonder what kind of horrendous DPS that WHM has seen, if they didn't think it could be done in 30. Then again, maybe I do know.

Had something similar a while back with Battle on the Big Keep(or whichever one it is where you fight Greg on the top of the wall). We have 10min before maintenance took servers down. Finished it with 1min to spare.

Ungh, rage quit story of the day.

It's stories like this that make me think I should pug some savage or at least do a PF to give it a go. I know I'm better than 28% healing and 100 DPS on WHM, not to mention I have the common sense to not spam a costly regen of all things.

Like, why are these people in that content? Do they have no concept of the requesite skill level? I get it's a learning party but spamming Medica II is a mistake I would be sad to see a WHM make in a levelling dungeon much less Savage. Sheesh.

The problem is alot of people are unlocking CT and have no idea how to actually run it since you CAN cheese through most of the mechanics now aside from say WoD which still annihilates raid parties. I did these back when they were new, so I know the mechanics. And when you skip more than half there's an issue. And the people new to this have no idea. That's been a discussion me and a few friends have had of how we wish theyd either tweak the original CT raids or come out with an "savage" form of it, just so people who never got to experience the actual fight can experience it.

I would be very much okay with that. In theory I'd love to do them at min ilvl but I don't think it's possible to find 23 other extreme masochists.

Got Doma Castle yesterday on DRK for leveling roulette. I'm a near BiS tank who rotates cooldowns and stays in tank stance for large pulls.

In that Doma Castle, I:

1. Used Living Dead three times
2. Died five times
3. Went Walking Dead once (and then died)
4. Watched the party wipe four times.

Get out of there, see zero comms, check party list, all three players were from the same server. Hmmmm. HMMMMMM.

I've tanked that dungeon many times, on all three tank jobs. I have never had a run that bad. If anyone ever wonders why tanks leave after the first pull, sometimes that kind of run is why.

I have Doma Castle ptsd now.

Getting double AST in DF groups is bad enough, but getting matched with one who blatantly tells you that no, he's not watching what you're doing is just... why? He flat-out told me to play around him when I asked why he kept overwriting my cards with his own, even after I went the extra step of making sure he wasn't holding anything when I used mine. What the hell man, I know it's LotA and we're not going to live or die by what buffs are up but seriously? What about common decency and even just a modicum of respect for your fellow player?

It was a rude reminder of why I don't queue as AST for full party DF stuff. I know adding a feature to the algorithm to avoid doubling up on specific jobs is meaningless since SE did away with the penalty for job double-ups in DF groups a long time ago, but still... I could have been put into A or C with and not had to deal with that guy and the annoyance of double AST in the first place. If only.

Phew, some rough roads on DF dungeons tonight. Good to be on the side helping out more than on the side needing help Also good that everyone was so chill.

Double AST woes

See, after that remark I would have been petty enough to write over HIS cards. Like, with a spread balance so I'm at least not screwing over the party while also giving that AST the middle finger. That kind of attitude is not OK in a game that requires teamwork to clear most of its content.

Had an interesting night tonight. Ended up in Stone Vigil with a 50+ PLD who didn't know what Shield Oath was and refused to communicate even when we tried multiple times to use the auto translate feature to point out he needed it. He couldn't keep hate even on small trash mobs either and never did anything to try and change so eventually our healer just stopped moving and we the DPS sat down with them, hoping he would take the hint because he was basically a glorified DPS at that point while the SAM was tanking everything. Nope. He just started going up to individual mobs and running them back to us instead, making sure to turn them so their AOE would hit us and provoke some reaction. Needless to say without any improvement we vote kicked him when the time came. It was just... Bizarre? If you don't know what you're doing, listen to the people trying to help you. We spent fifteen minutes trying to talk the tank through their class without them actually doing anything more than just running off and trying to get us killed.

After that we ended up in Sohm Al and it went a lot better until the lag spikes started occurring. All in all it was a very weird night.

A mildly amusing one tonight in Rabanastre. I'm on my DRG with a couple of FC members. First boss, DPS is somewhat low due to much of the alliance being lower geared. We get to the part with the three blue adds that each alliance must kill, and ours is dying slowly. LB3 hits. I hit it so we kill the add. A second after, the tank throws a "Target to ignore" marker on me. Doesn't say anything, just throws the marker on me. Me and the FC had a laugh at the petty reaction. Suffice it to say I had a small chuckle every time after that when said tank screwed up and died, which were at least a couple.

Another, less amusing run. Late night MS roulette, get Meridianum. I'm on a DRK, the other tank is a Warrior. Naturally, I let the warrior take MT as they lack DPS stance in 50 content. He begins making the standard pull. As we get to the downward slope, he loses aggro and everyone starts jumping the healer. I rapidly switch into Grit and grab adds, as the tank by this point is halfway down the road. Once they are dead, the tanks asks the healer not to use heals until he finishes the pull. Healer begins complaining, saying they used a shield as we go into first boss. I tell the healer that shields also draw aggro if cast in combat.

As the boss ends and we start moving again, the healer continues complaining, telling me to start main tanking since apparently he's completely blaming the other tank and figures my AoE circle is better then his cone. I defend said tank, point out this lack of DPS stance, which others back up. Mr healer does not care, accuses me of being lazy (Sure, ok, if I was that lazy I'd have let you get murdered by 20 dudes at the start buddy).

This goes on to the point where everyone is so distracted that a spotlight is missed, which of course does not please mr healer who continues to complain. Thankfully, he stops after half the raid tells him to stuff it, including his fellow healer. Rest of the run happens in silence, the only other time he speaks up is after the final boss dies and half the raid had already left, at which point he tells the remaining group to "You know what that word is but I can't say it here" off.
