    I use diversion on CD and still wind up 2nd hate. If the CD were shorter it wouldn't be an issue or if it lasted longer. But I use diversion go down to 3rd hate after a bit then like 2 GCD after it ends Im back at second and risking pulling hate before it comes back

    I know I'm necro'ing this thread but I really hope SE is taking notes on this. Either use Seigan or Yaten, just please give us a 1/2 enmity dump. Diversion even used properly isn't enough.

    To be fair, it's trash on all the melee DPS.

    The problem is that they gave agro dumps (refresh, tactician, lucid) to jobs that are generally more burst heavy DPS and they gave a temporary agro build up reduction to classes that do more sustained, consistent damage. They got it backwards. Bards and Machinists need diversion more than melee do, and melee need a skill to let them dump agro. Possibly remove Goad entirely, give Tactician as-is to melee DPS and give Diversion to ranged physical DPS.

    Nah, just give something new, no need to change other role. I mean, just add an enmity reduction on an existant abilities is okay. I'll put it on Mokuso personally, would make it always useful and on the burst.

    Something new would be nice. But switching up cross role skills is something that could be easily implemented between patches if they wanted.

    In fact, the goal of Diversion is to limit enmity generation when you have a big Burst, like BLM. I've a good BLM in my FC, and he uses Diversion for his burst. And when, during the fight, is enmity is too high, he uses Lucid Dream. The fact is for the SAM and the MNK it misses something.

    @wereotter -> With tanks, we agree with the fact that cross role skills idea is mostly bad. Take Tanks for exemple: the game let you choose between some skills, but in this list you have: Rampart, Provoke, Shirk, Reprisal. These 4 are almost must-have in raid, even Shirk - that let your MT playing in DPS mode.
    For dps is quite the same, we have: Second Wind, Invigorate, Goad, True North (at least for MNK, DRG and SAM, it's really important to have it), and what? And "dodge-bump-mechanic", Diversion that works only for some jobs...
    By that I want to say a lot of "cross role skill" are too much important to not take them, we really have 1 or 2 skills to choose, and they're not really usefull for most of them. The spell to dodge bump for example, were do you use it? In Shinryu ex? It's always usefull, since Tidal is easily "dodgeable".
    So the "optionnals" skills are often "obligatories" skills...

    Leveling warrior currently and I agree, there are too many "must have" tank cross role skills making your choices arbitrary.

    Melee on the other hand need to constantly change things up from having Arm's Length in Shinryu and someone needs Feint for Halicarnassus. Honestly, though, I'm starting to find that Goad, Invigorate, and even Second Wind aren't really that useful anymore. With the changes to TP you really only need those skills if you or someone else dies (from a raiding perspective) so it really frees up what you can take. Just too many of your choices aren't really worth taking.
