Please remove these anyone ELSE posts. They where ridiculous from the start.
I like it. But the NN on my world is nothing like the drama-filled soap operas people describe elsewhere. I have found it makes the server feel more alive (we were one of the very smallest until recently) and late night mentor-led runs of old content to help new players are funny. I don’t wear the crown.
It does feel as though a little moderation would go a long way on some worlds.
It doesn't need to be abolished, it needs to be adjusted. Funnily enough, when I did my 2000 mentor roulettes for the mount, I read a lot of complaints about people that mentors should not receive any rewards and they should be a mentor from the bottom of their hearts and kindness. Well, the mentors I met with the same goal as me by far outshine any random mentor I have met. They were often skillful players who would explain fights with me and make very little mistakes. Seems to me that rewarding mentors for doing mentor stuff is in fact an inclination for these people to behave like mentors, not the other way around as some doomsayers would argue.
People like to overreact, though. Mentors are not nearly as bad as some people would want you to believe.
Looks like _Enigma_ had a backup account.
They're even typing in the same way
I think the Mentor system in a good idea, but there should be a way to report and remove mentor status from the toxic ones. But I know this would be awkward cuz there are always those who will abuse report systems.

E- Enigma?

I just think that there needs to be a higher bar. Literally anyone can be a mentor as it is. I think they need to be a bit more choosy about who they're allowing to represent their company because whether SE realizes it or not, that's exactly what a mentor is doing. To those of us who are familiar, we may not give much weight to the title. But to a newcomer who doesn't yet understand, they may think that a mentor is something akin to a GM with less power. And to those people, it may be a bit off-putting to see people who you assume have been given some level of 'power'/influence by SE themselves acting in the way that many mentors do.
(I realize this is a joke post, but these are my actual feelings toward the matter)
