And yes, one of the top reasons not to have them probably are perverts. We have people running around with Fat Chocobo heads, bikinis, huge Succubus horns, etc. I'd say children chars wouldn't be that out of the park, especially with all the lala's who look more like babies.

So how about mentality (mentally? brain processing powers? critical thinking? iunno pick one)? I can't imagine a kid (or a group of kids potentially in the hundreds, which would just be jarring) being capable of handling constant danger involving death and destruction (some of which us, the players, are responsible for) on a near daily basis.

That's an argument, I think it really depends on the child's age and their character. Like we have an actual 6 year old in FF9.

I dont think this will happen, but SE did create a concept art for their Viera and it showed a teen version of the Ivalice Viera. So while we might not get a teen miqote, I would not be suprised to see a new race that looks alot younger.

Well if it's just one kid capable of handling death and destruction, it's fine (I still hate children heroes, but that's my opinion), but when it's like... hundreds or something (playable, I mean), then it's just ergh. Even for a fantasy game, having so many kids capable of killing 'Gods' and not being phased by horrible disasters/tragedies is just... I don't like it :U

The Lalafells already look like children. The Cats look like they are about 16 to 18 years old. No way there going to make them look younger than that..

And they balance it with Lalafells by giving them the most fucked up lore in the game at present as well as going out of the way to make /sure/ we know they're adults. While there's many sexual innuendos and implied situations in the game, Lalafell's by and large make up the bulk of them with this year's entire Moonfire Faire event being a testament to how perverse they can be. They look like children and have OOC emotes that lend credence to that notion, but in game they're anything but childlike which helps break some level of the 'ick' factor for me when I see one running around in a bathing suit. It also helps that they're essentially sentient potatoes.

Actually children on the other hand? No thank you, I don't care how cute they look, that's just begging for creepy shit to happen.
