Veteran Reward changes - Big slap in the face for long time vets?

Veterans To SE: So are you saying... that the veteran rewards are going to be shortened so new players can get the veteran rewards we took four years to get (Which are basicly a thanks for us being subscribed for so long) and any new veteran rewards will be awarded to us instantly? How dare SE doing this?!

Yes i am being sarcastic because this is a VERY stupid topic, and i am a veteran for four years.

People forget that this was done to call new players in to subscribe for more, not to mention this is only GLAMOUR! I will say it again... GLAMOUR! The type that people that are complaining won't even use in game for sure, but they want to complain because they feel like they are entitled to have things that other people shouldn't... I think there is a name for that... uhm... oh right, LOOT W***ES.

Veterans, from a Veteran to you... Stop being selfish and think of other people! Its not just your 8/12 bucks a month that keeps the game going, its EVERYONE's 8/12 bucks that keeps the game going, and not to mention the 3/6 month patches that add more stuff that are worth more than your 8/12 bucks, not to mention it's EVERYONE's 8/12 bucks that allows Yoshi-P and the Developers to make stuff that YOU want in the game (Example: Super Savage, hairstyles, Mogstation items).

SE is doing a terrific job and they should continue.

PS: STOP TRYING TO FIND ISSUES (That you think are issues) IN PATCHES AND MAKING A BIG DEAL OUT OF THEM JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE THEM!

Seriously though, who is the veteran?
Someone who's been subscribed and plays actively for 426 days with multiple level 60-70 jobs? Or perhaps it's someone with the returner status and a tattoo on their back, with their highest level being a 47 DRG?

As someone who has been subbed every single day of 2.0+ ...and most of 1.0 as well. I don't care. I don't see what the fuss is, it can be a bit demotivating to see a reward you want and its 3 years away, veteran rewards in these games shouldn't go for more than a year imo.

I'm more curious on what I'll be able to buy with achievement points since I have all the rewards.

That is a pretty dramatic cut back and they aren't really veteran rewards anymore as you can get most of them in your first sub if your keen. I get making them more accessible but it does seem to come with a subtext of we don't value are long term players and are desperate for new players to replace them.

personally i don't see it quite like that yoshida values all players but still wants new players to join using the subscription bonus as the incentive to keep playing knowing that in like a year of continued play they get these rewards instead of having to wait close to like 10 years for certain bonus items to be made available to them to go fan boy/girl. I mean we all know FF14 won't go on forever eventually a new online version of FF will comeout and replace ARR so might as well live it up while they can right besides they'll probably make future vet rewards follow the same guidelines as this change for current long time vets

Fairness is a slippery argument. There will never be a solution that is 'fair' to everyone. Even halving the time required would have meant that there were still people who possibly would never get those rewards through possibly no fault of their own simply because FFXIV won't last forever (it would also mean that the first month you got two tiers of veteran rewards which would be hilarious).

If we use that as an argument we should all just get everything when we start the game (now and in the future) because otherwise this will happen anyway. If you need points to get the items you will first need to play the game. If you start one week before it shuts down you would probably not get those so there is no change with that system too. Also imo why should someone even still care about the items if they know that SE will shot down soon? Everything that was there will be lost anyway.

Being a player since 1.0, this has zero impact on me. If others can get the cool stuff. I'm all for it.

Actual veteran players get nothing in return while everyone else benefits from the changes.

I hope they at least add one thing NEW to buy with achievement points...like 2 patches from now when all the non-veterans have spent all their points.

Been around since ARR beta, I'm actually glad for my friend (and any other players in similar situation) who started late and was dying for the glamours. If anything I'm more worried about those who are mid-way and how they might be affected by the new system.

I've only had a subscription for a little over 240 days so I'm a little sad to miss out on some of the rewards but it's still not a deal breaker. I feel that the money they're getting from the subscriptions is being put to good use as we continually get updates.

You aren't going to miss them. You will be able to purchase them in-game. That's what the change is... moving from 'must subscribe for x days' to 'can purchase in-game with enough achievement points'.

I just want to ask this. I have 720 days subbed but they gave me the rewards all out of order. I got the rise set before Sudanese and never got the Leon set on patch day. Am i to say they are still rolling out the rewards?
