Instanced housing? Why not BETTER APARTMENTS?

So, with all the commotion on housing, and so many people asking about instanced housing, I just thought: But hey, we alreayd have instanced housing! they are called apartments! The issue with them, however, is that you don't get to have exerior fixtures, and you don't have the option to pay more for a little better pad to crash after a logn day. So why instead of implementing a whole new system, we improve on the system already in place?

So, you could have 3 types of apartments:

• LOFT - Just about the same size as the current apartment, but with the opposite wall having a door leading to a small balcony where you could put some exterior fixtures and a garden for cross-breeding.
  
• DUPLEX - Aside from a bigger balcony fitting 2 gardens, this place is somewhat bigger than the loft, and it has a higher ceiling with a second floor styled as an internal balcony occupying 1/3 of the appartment area.
  
• PENTHOUSE - The crown jewel of apartments is a 2-story place where the 2nd floor has an exit to a BIG garden style like it's the top of the building, and maybe even a small poolhouse. You can fit 3 gardens there just as in a mansion, and fit lots of exterior furnishings.
  

So, would you guys think that this would "fix" most prolems with housing and keep mostly everyone happy? Let's make this topic big!

EDIT: I forgot to add something to this suggestion - MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE TENANTS IN APARTMENTS. Lots of people want to share their places with their IRL GFs, Brothers/Sisters, etc.

This is what I've been asking for.

If Apartments are even going to be utilized as the alternative to a full house, it needs to have most of the amenities. Right now they only offer stables and a couple crafting spots.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they said they could increase the number of apartments at any time (Not that they always tell the truth about their own capabilities). You may need to double or even triple it at the current rate but at least everyone can have a home, then.

I don't know about that upgrading, though. Give apartments a plot where they can crossbreed 4 plants at a time, maybe, and give them their balcony, but it renders the rest of housing pretty much useless and a downright downgrade compared to having the capabilities of upgrading to 3 gardens.

it's still a server issue with how many apartments they want the server to have.

those apartments are no different than instance housing.

if they have the server capacity, what would make more sense is to start selling Sea of Clouds islands of varying size and shape, allow people to zone to them from any Airship Landing so there's no crowding.

The sad thing is, even apartments are of finite supply. Even if they implement this idea, it's likely that each ward would get like only 10 Penthouses and 20 Duplexes and the rest just Lofts...

...and half the server still have no chance at a house for the next 3 years.

This is a great solution and I would gladly grind and save for something like this. Duplex would be perfect for me, especially because of the gardens. (Which, gardening is another thing that needs to be addressed. Not everyone can get a house, so not everyone currently has easy access to gardening. This solution mitigates that significantly.) That being said, I would still save for the penthouse, since my Lala needs all the space to run around in various outfits... and non-outfits! :P

When they came with the idea of apartments I thought it would be the solution. That it would be big enough to make a good customization. But it was just as small as a FC room... Even now you can find a lot of free apartments. (There were like 10 apartments sold in my ward in Shirogane yesterday).

But your ideia is really great and it is what apartments should have been from start.

I personally would have been content with just making the Inn rooms customizable like the inside of an apartment. Give the rooms access to an instanced garden of sorts, add a public stable for all players, and call it a day!

I'm thinking something like the XI moghouses. For the unfamiliar, moghouses are similar in size to XIV's inn rooms, but it comes with a 2nd story and you can decorate the rooms. It also has access to a fully-functional garden instance. It can also be upgraded to include a patio area. Each character gets their own moghouse instantly.

So yeah, my thoughts would be to give all players a basic housing option, with access to a garden & stable, and then leave neighborhoods to FCs and others who want to have a proper house/neighbors/etc.

This is a true statement. The bigger issue is people don't just access to the housing feature, they want a Mansion on the top of the hill and don't want to hear the reason's why they can't.

I do think they could increase the single story floor plan in apartments and add things like flower pots that have 2 or 3 slots; but you'll still see rage threads because people just don't want apartments, they want it all.
