They weigh the "cost" of said feature against how much they predict it will be used and/or how much they plan on continuing to use it, as well as the "cost" of maintaining said feature...and weigh that against other features/content/changes they want to do.

They don't weigh it against "doing nothing instead" which is what you'd have to have for them to be lazy.

Clearly I can't stop you from thinking what you want to think, but I can keep pointing out just how poor your argument is. I can pull from the empirical evidence of dozens of developers. You've just got your own entitled self-interest.
Well I'm not talking about other developers, I'm talking about the developers for the the game I play which is FFXIV. I expect them to be different and set themselves apart from the masses but clearly that won't happen. You can point out whatever you want, as you said its my own entitled self-interest and I will never think otherwise unless I see change to things that people actually want.

Also Lord of Verminion was really wanted by the players, so much went into that and look what happened? They could have used all that to make more character customization but they didn't. People have been asking for features since 2.0 and instead we get things like LoV, awesome.
