Can we get children?

I have to second that this seems very creepy to me, especially in the context of this game. If you want something like this there are plenty of other games available. Hell, on top of what's already been suggested I'm pretty sure Second Life has mods for this given the amount of hard-scripted pets I saw when last I decided to look at the market place.

Also, child NPC's that have been around since ARR are still children. It'd be kinda jarring if your child could (rapidly) age while everyone around them stayed the exact same age.

The one child from the 1.0 alchemist quests was an adult and father in the last christmas event.

And that makes sense when you know the timeline of 1.0 (or FFXIV in general), which is both fifteen and five Hydaelyn years ago.

Just look up Minfillia. She was the little girl in the 1.0 Ul'dah opening (fifteen Hydaelyn years ago. Echo powers, we weren't really there or something), then she was a teenage Scion (five Hydaelyn years ago) and now she's... something.

I said nothing of the sort. Let me rephrase then: Telling someone that their idea has no merit or value because you don't value the same thing is very self centered and obnoxious. You can say "I wouldn't use this" or "I don't support this idea" without putting DOWN the idea. Have your opinion, and let others have theirs.

Tell me how the flood of "this isn't *insertgame* is constructive or positive? you feel guilty? that wasn't the intention but think about why you think people should feel guilty. I'm suggesting people give a "yay" or "nay" without telling the OP that their idea is stupid/horrible/invaluable. Give positive suggestions or useful criticism. Half the posts in this thread are about "ugh that's child labor/slavery" .. this isn't helpful.

OP wants a richer experience, give some suggestions or useful criticism. I'm surprised you took a suggestion to keep it civil so negatively yourself.

I only thought it would be a fun feature that would give being in a marriage something more, since there is already a marriage system. No, I do not want them as minions; that would seem kinda weird in my mind, but I'm not sure. o:

I was hoping people would brainstorm and give some thoughts on how children could be useful in the game, and I was hoping people who posted would actually give some solutions to the problems they present; not just the problems. I didn't realize this would be a pool of negativity. If you or anyone else have an idea on what use they could be, then please share. Other than that, I made this thread hoping to get more ideas.

I just wanted to know what your idea for children is, because for me its obvious that they could be just something like minions since ppl would complain otherwhise. And the marriage has only one purpose for the most people and thats the "port to your partner" funktion.

I'm not a fan of this father mother child thing to be honest, but thats everyones own taste.
