We never have to Squaresoft/Square Enix.
We never have to Squaresoft/Square Enix.
Should we take this to mean we need to follow the example of the angry BR/RU players and write a bunch of negative reviews for Steam etc? Is that how you stop being ignored?
One thing I would like to understand is how, exactly, problems that specifically affect the European community are communicated to the lead developers. We need to be made aware of the systems in place so we can better offer constructive criticism and ensure that legitimate concerns are not overlooked. I do not feel as though the core concerns outlined throughout this thread are unreasonable and for the most part the posts have been very constructive.
At any rate, I would like to ask a few direct questions:
At what point, exactly, are the promotional items going to go on sale on the Mog Station?
Will the promotional items from both campaigns go on sale and - if so - will they all be available on the Mog Station at the same time?
Could you give an example as to some of the legal issues that are making it difficult to host promotional campaigns for European players?
After the first promotional campaign it was officially acknowledged that European players received a raw deal. Despite that, the second promotional campaign brought with it the exact same problems that plagued the first. How likely is it that there will be more promotional campaigns in the future and what will be done to mitigate the inconveniences to European players?
Has the issue been communicated directly to the lead development team? If so, how likely is it that we will get an official statement during a Live Letter or even in this very thread from Naoki Yoshida to address a predicament that has been specifically afflicting most players with a European regional account for many months?

It's demoralising to think that the Japanese staff are probably already planning the 2018 7-Eleven campaign for Japan, while those of us who continue to play the same game on the same servers just have to sit and watch the 'preferred customers' getting their special items.
For heaven's sake S-E, if you can't run the campaigns at least make the promotional codes region-free, like most of your other existing FFXIV promotional codes. Region locking this unmitigated long term disaster of a PR campaign was not your finest moment![]()
I suspect the codes are region locked due to some sort of legal limitation.
A solid compromise for players with an account locked to the European region could be for the codes to be available as a result of purchases made through the official Square Enix store. It's been brought up before but it's worth repeating. There's a handful of things there that I would happily buy if it meant getting my hands on the promotional items I desire. I doubt I'm alone in that regard.
At any rate, the best we can do is keep this thread active. Bookmark it. Post every now and then to ensure visibility - and for the lurkers who happen to be reading this post? If you support our efforts, that's great - just be sure to post yourself so we can stand a greater chance at being heard. It would certainly be very appreciated! I understand that it can be disheartening to keep checking back here only to see no new updates but I believe that if we are polite, civil and visible then we can make our voices heard.

Question: I'm American but I moved to Japan back in 2014. I know this has nothing to do with EU, but I'm wondering if I can buy things for the promotional offers here in Japan and use them on my NA account? I live right across the street from a 7-11 and I saw them advertising some promotion on my receipts some while back but I didn't have money for my sub at the time. :/ Just wondering if in the future I'll be able to participate, or if I'm also screwed because my account is NA but I have an easier time accessing JP promotion codes.
Nope, if you have an NA account, you're locked to the NA promos, can't participate in JPN ones even if you live there.
Nope you are out of luck, they are region locked. Doesn't matter where you live, it depends on what your account is. If you have a NA account you cannot use the codes from Japan events on it.Question: I'm American but I moved to Japan back in 2014. That's really unfortunate... especially since it's impossible to switch your account from NA to JP without paying for a brand new one and you can't transfer your character even if you did (at least as far as I know) . :/ But honestly, they really need to get rid of the region restrictions all around.

Unfortunately we can't even change our forum display name in our account settings, let alone the region our account is associated with. Of course, changing the region our account is associated with would simply be an awkward 'fix' for what is a greater issue - that these promotional campaigns simply aren't working for the majority of players with European regional accounts. What we need, ideally, is a direct message from Yoshi-P addressing the problem. It's nice that he responded to the thread about displaced players suffering in the aftermath of various natural disasters. It's also nice that he chose to respond to the thread about Brazillian and Russian players suddenly being charged more money through Steam for game related services.
Both are important issues that players understandably felt strongly about. Though this thread deals with a very legitimate issue too - and yet despite the problems still not being resolved it still hasn't gone any higher than a community representative.
