Fairy Scholar = Slavery. what? it's funny.

Let's just make it a scholar glamour, and call it done.
It's spelled Faerie and no thank you.

I'm gonna say no.
Bravely Default's faerie is designed by the same person as Eos and Selene, thus the resemblance.
Faeries (fairies) are already established in FFXIV lore as being aetheric familiars manifested from the Scholar soulstone holder. In essense, they ARE the soul of the soulstone. While a few languages cut this detail, our fairy is Lily, with "Eos" and "Selene" being her equivalent to different stances. The 60-70 quest introduces another one called Lilac, though you never get to see her proper for reasons you'll see if you do the quests. So, scholar and faerie are in a cushy, symbiotic relationship.
Basically, fae are already fully established in lore, and suddenly being allowed to play as one would be less likely than Yoshi-P coming on and announcing Ixal are playable in 4.2, please look forward to it.

that thing is evil just like the SCH pets
It's a lovely fairy, a bit too much on the cute side but that can be left for character customization, we don't need more dwarfs so make these full height characters!...
I will gladly welcome this new race in Eorzea!...
