Hm? Thought it's pretty well-known by now HQ gear doesn't affect the materia you get but only improves the chances of melding multiple materia.

What I meant is that people are less willing to risk thier HQ gear when it could become some useless materia, I made a brass ring+1 (obvious DoW gear albiet low level) and it became a mind materia 1, so it then became useless to my DoW, now if that was a rank 50 +3 piece of gear, that is worth over 3 mil, it just wouldnt be worth the risk.

it wouldnt be worth the risk anyway, you get the same materia from NQ gear as HQ so why would anyone do that ever.

I've been turning my dated +1 stuff into materia simply because I can't slot it with any materia. I had full sets of +1 gear for 4 classes. Most pieces I paid 1 mil or more for. I have 6 +1 DoW weapons that I plan to convert this weekend. Materia is like the lottery, you can't win if you don't play. So I will absolutely take the risk unless its a piece of gear that isn't dated.

my comment was specifically for the +3 gear that was worth 3million
