As a sufferer of chronic major depression, just playing one helps me deal with my feelings. Say what you will but a laughing lalafell is virtual Zoloft.

Being small, I'm non-threatening to players who suffer from social anxiety. Players wish to sit and talk when I'm on. It's a good feeling knowing I'm the person people want to be with when they are lonely or down.

I also like how good many outfits look on us. We may have different proportions than the tall folk but we definitely corner the adorable market.

There's a lot more but I'd like to hear from you! Why do you play a lalafell?
I suffer with anxiety (and depression because of the anxiety, though I've had good help for that recently, I'm a lot better) and I have to agree that it's not only a big lift for myself, but it cheers up others too They are so darn cute, and the emotes are adorable, it definitely brings out my inner child and my mischievious sense of humour Playing as one always makes me smile

I'm glad! You could always give lalafell for a whirl but be warned. We're addictive to play!

It's wonderful to hear you are a lot better now, Micropanther7. You brought up something I wanted to touch upon. The child-like appearance of lalafell helps keep me feel young. Their cuteness and emotes are rejuvenative to me and I "feel" that spreading to other players when I interact with them.

i play lala because the run animation looks like youre running faster than you actually are. i switched from lala to hume and it just felt sluggish in comparison so i switched back

My boyfriend and I both play as lalafell and he was the first to get on the lalafell hype train.

Originally playing as an Elezen on the beta I found that I wanted my character to be similar to his. After changing to lala I immediately fell in love with all things lalafell. They way they move and jump and their emotes just fill you with happiness. Clothing usually always looks great on a lalafell because its just 10 times cuter than any other race in specific gear. I admit that I am a sucker for hot elezen and highlander men but I just can't get past Lalafell's cuteness to ever race change my main.

Looking forward to eventually tanking on my lala.

Lalafell are the master race. They are just perfect.

I was a Lala in 2.X, but changed because dragons. There's really only a few things that are keeping me from going back since I still have a Fantasia in my back pocket:
    • The loss of detail on some pieces of gear, usually the chest and leg pieces (obviously)
    • Miniature mounts which can sometimes be awesome, but usually it takes the fun out of getting mounts like the ones from the Garo PVP event.
    • Cutscenes can be really weird, and especially in early 2.X I got to enjoy the lower halves of everyone's bodies for most of the shots that focused on my character.
    • Trying to keep my hair tidy is a pain because there's some weird fascination with petting lalas

I had a Lala alt back in BCoB, and used a fantasia to lalafy my main character for a couple of months during HW.

It's very strange to play a lala.. Because there is some weird persona that manages to come along with it. What I mean by that is playing a lala forces a certain personality out of you that you don't normally have on other races..

Been playing a Lala since day one.
Probably because I played a TaruTaru in FFXI, Chua in Wildstar, Lyn in Blade & Soul...
I'm just a sucker for small and cute stuff.

I don't really have a good reason like OP but I just like the idea of a small character being able to do things that are impossible, because realistically a Lallafell would have no chance at blocking a Dreadnoughts swipe but somehow they do! It's just silly stuff like that. Plus yes, they are cute. There's a bit of a stigma towards lalafell players but all races seem to have their stereotypes.
Even a Roegadyn wouldn't 'realistically' stand a chance against a semi-truck's worth of steel clotheslining it.

I'll never understand how a 6 foot man vs a 400 foot dragon is 'fine', but a 300 foot dragon vs a 3 foot man isn't.

I just always play the short races, or sometimes elves/tallest race. Since LotRO back in like 2011 hobbits were just my jam, Merry and Pippin were always best so y'know.

I started off as Au Ra in xiv partly as my partner was already a lala and partly as i had heavensward but wasn't sure i'd keep playing, so i wanted to get something out of buying the full pack. I do miss my Xaela sometimes but then i make an alt and go 'naaaah'.

Camera difference was jarring at first but now it's just whatever.

Also glam projects just seem cooler on lalas, like this one: https://imgur.com/JSA2G8r

    (embed wouldn't freaking work right)
