Why do some healers feel entitled to receiving commendations?

Not all healers, but I have noticed that a certain group of players, mainly healers and tanks, who complain on forums, reddit or you tube about not getting commendations at the end of dungeon runs.

There is even a popular video on you tube of a certain decent AST who is bitching about an undergeared tank pulling big in a leveling dungeon and him not getting any commendations at the end of the run. I think that is extremely arrogant tbh.

In this game healing or tanking are roles just like DPS. They are not more important, nor are they more challenging to play as a rule. Sure there are some encounters that require more healing or tanking skill but that is not always the case.

I really wish tanks and healers got rid of this arrogant , doing-us-a-favor-for-tanking/healing, attitude. No one put a gun to your head and made you play a tank or a healer. You are not doing us any favors and no, your jobs aren't more challenging than DPS roles.

Might be just one of the examples you've encountered, but I wouldn't say healers think they are more entitled then others. In general the community, specially NA always acting like they are entitled, no matter what it might be. Loot/role specific glamour/region locked glamour/commendation/private maintenance time etc. and that's just a couple of things that stands on that list. I've encountered DPS as well as Tanks/Heals and all of them thought they are entitled when it comes to the commendations at the end. People will get over it one day.

I usually just give commendations at random, unless someone catches my eye. I usually give my commendation to a DPS though, if I see a sprout I'll give it to them and I avoid giving commendations to mentors.

My commendation levels.
1) Isn't a terrible or hateful person.
2) Absolutely saved a run.
3) Has the most aesthetically pleasant character.
4) Is a DPS.

Usually 1 isn't an issue that disqualifies anyone and 2 doesn't happen often, so it comes down to 3, or if everyone is an eyesore, then 4. >_>

I never feel entitled to a comm as a healer... but I sure do get disappointed when I take the time to explain fight mechanics to new people, pull out clutch tetras and benes right before big aoes to keep low hp people from dying, keep the tank (and everyone else) alive during massive pulls, manage to put out some respectable dps, and banter when possible, all in a single run, and not a single person gives me a comm. It hasn't happened often... but when it does I sure do feel it.

I mean as a healer if you keep everyone alive and do more damage then both the dps and dont get any comms I guess you might be upset about it, personally I dont care either way as I can do amazing dps on red mage and get no comms but run a dungeon on Warrior half asleep and get 3 comms.

They are absolutely more important and more difficult to play, and come with more pressure and responsibility. If you think otherwise then I'm afraid you are playing them to a poor standard.

I don't give a comm to anyone unless they do something outstanding. people playing their roles well isn't outstanding to me.
