Sitting in tank stance an entire dungeon is just poor play.

While this is true in general, I see little value in a PLD in dusk vigil dps stancing the trash. Total Eclipse is handy, sure, but the AoE your healer can do on trash is going to outweigh TE spam, so you should probably accommodate them as best you can. On bosses in there? sure, go DPS, not like you have anything but RoH at 52 anyway, you certainly shouldn't be losing threat.


On thread: Not a complaint today, had one of the smoothest runs of Kugane I've seen in a while, even down to the entire summoner trio dying before they could finish casting. Wish I could've commended everyone.

It definitely killed them to try Sword Oath!

Pull the first four mobs of The Dusk Vigil in sword oath while popping rampart and bulwark...die... Go into the hallway with all the zombies pop hallowed then all my cds, die.

No, yeah, you're just a terrible tank. Nothing wrong with the healer there if that's what you're doing. But at least you did the party a favour by not forcing them to kick you.

Anyway, Neverreap as RDM. WAR, WHM, and a newbie NIN. At the last boss, both the WAR and WHM get blasted off by the very first AoE knockback. Apparently they mistook it for a proximity AoE. Well, that was cute.

So the NIN and I worked the boss all the way down on our own. While I don't like being forced to heal as RDM, in this one case, it was fun.

As a Lalafell, I'm kind of getting used to it. I mean, I do generally only come up to someone's knees.

No funny stories today. Spent time leveling on my own and doing my hunting log. I'm new to MMORPGs for the most part (this is the first one I've stuck with for longer than a day or two). I've only had one 'negative' experience doing a Duty Finder with my boyfriend a couple of weeks ago wherein our WHM decided to try to tank Copperbell Mines by herself, while her and her friend smack-talked my bf's lower level and gear (he tanks, I'm BLM). I ended up getting booted out for telling her that it'd be nice if she acted like our healer and healed people (she wasn't). Bf didn't get booted but they continued their snide comments and let him die a few times.

Other than that one incident though, it's been a lot of fun so far

Had an archer in Tam-Tara normal yesterday. He was constantly running all over the place while attacking. (No, he wasn't masterfully avoiding AoEs.). It was dizzying and very annoying. I mean, he. Just. Kept. Moving! All the time! When asked about it, he answered that he was playing on PS4. Now I'm no expert, but I main BRD and I play on PS4 too. I never ever move around like a headless chicken all the time. And this is not because Wanderer's Minuet back in Heavensward tamed me. It's just unnecessary to run around like he did. And when advised to try not moving too much when there was no need to, he asked if this affected his DPS. Ehhh, it's not like running around increased his DPS either, so why not just spare everyone the agony of watching a moving object that just can't stand still? I reeeeally would've enjoyed watching him play BRD in 3.x

You can go into dps stance in dungeons at times but random df group you should probably adjust if you have a lower skilled healer and maybe only go into it after 1-2 mobs are dead.

While I understand it, this is not the case. That person was not stance dancing, he pulled an entire dungeon in sword oath.

I personally think that doing it is even more poor play than just sitting in tank stance an entire dungeon

Sword Oath + Rampart + Bulwark is the same mitigation as Shield Oath + Bulwark.
Do you really think that if a tank dies pulling four mobs in tank stance with Bulwark up, it's the tank's fault?

Why would you use 2 CDs if you could only pop one in shield oath?

Because it means you don't get the 15% penalty to your own damage that comes with Shield Oath.

There's no value in having gotten through something without having used a cooldown. Unless you specifically need Rampart (i.e. no other cooldown will suffice) for something else within the next 90 seconds, there is zero cost to using it on that first pull.

I don't understand why people have to be mean to newer players. I mean is it that hard to be a decent human being and not ruin some new player ( who is probably nervous about running the dungeon in the first place ) outlook on dungeons?
I really hope you reported them.
