Do people see lalafells as children?

I see Lala as very infant like. Tarutaru from XI, I saw as more adult like. Not sure why, considering Taru would actually have dialog that sounds more child-like.

Maybe it's just cause Taru's reminded me of Koala's. I really have no idea. I just remember taking Taru more seriously than I do with Lala's.

Well in ffxi there was an item you could use to turn into children version of races, as well as children being present in the world. As such seeing a comparison might make it easier to see them as adults

Yeah, that could help it. I think it might also be that Lala are more pudgy, like infants or toddlers. Maybe it was due to the graphics, but Taru were just kinda.. stubby.
