In both Deltascape 1 and 2 today, I saw NINs slapping down Doton. I didn't say anything about it, but is there a memo I missed? Because last I checked, that wasn't something you did in a single-target fight.
Anyway, I went and queued Leveling Roulette as PLD. Dropped me into Doma Castle when I'm still using the Augmented Shire weapons. I completed the run, but my hatred for that dungeon is now firmly cemented.
I don't play NIN myself (so pinch of salt here), but I believe when using Ten Chi Jin, Fuma Shuriken -> Katon -> Doton is more overall potency than Fuma Shuriken -> Raiton -> Suiton (provided the Doton is able to tick for the full duration on the boss).

Fuma > Katon > Doton is higher potency than either Fuma > Raiton > Suiton or Fuma > Raiton > Huton when using Ten-Chi-Jin.In both Deltascape 1 and 2 today, I saw NINs slapping down Doton. Edit: and someone answered first, rip.
But then Doton is stationary, while Alte Roite, at least, tends to move around a lot in his fight. I'm fairly certain not all the Doton ticks landed on him.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe these NINs didn't know that caveat and just learned "Fuma -> Katon -> Doton" as their Ten Chi Jin rotation.

That's pretty cool, I've been messing around on my end and was wondering if that did more damage.
Doing the Aery as a RDM. I realized I never set up my xRole skills. So after the second I discreetly set it up. Threw Mana Shift on the healer. Even gave the tank a magic bubble. Because I have skills equipped this entire time. And I loved that healer, kept feeding me Balance and Arrows. Gave them my comm and got two in return.
Nowadays its not so much an issue, since SE went and buffed all the enmity generation especially the aoe ones. Before that change it was a lot worse coming into stormblood since our aggro stat changed from VIT to STR (which is why enmity generation needed to be buffed) and in any dungeon where tank stance was not available it was just plain hell to try to hold aggro unless you outgeared the DPS.
Also I have seen tanks do aggro combo spam only to lose aggro as off tanks to a melee DPS like NIN/DRG during Lakshmi EX resulting in the cleave wiping of the party. So no, aggro combo spam will not always keep aggro 100% of the time. Provoke Circle-Shirk however will keep aggro to the point both tanks can sit in DPS stance and only swap to tank stance for extra defense for tankbusters.

Depends on their opener. Not going to math Ninja out for this thread, but if your auto attacks are on point, and you don't move from the boss, your ten chi Jin should always fall where you can Fuma, Raiton, Suiton. This'll line up with Dream within a Dream, Duality, and Kassatsu. If you mess up at anytime, then Doton is the alternative.
There are different openers that lead to different outcomes, but this is the most commonly used.

Had a headscratcher of a RDM in Sohm Al while levelling my DRK. They seemed to randomly alternate between Scatter spam (even on single target), and hardcasting Verthunder. Not a melee skilll in sight either.
They did make up for this inconsistent/bad DPS by keeping me alive on the 2nd boss, after nobody attacked the green slime and the other DPS and the healer both snuffed it in the resulting blast. They didn't seem to understand what I meant when I jokingly commented on Vercure being OP, so that made me feel bad for the earlier judgemental eye rolling I was doing.
As an added bonus, they were willing to take a couple minutes after the dungeon ended for me to give them the basic idea of how the class is supposed to work, thanked me, and went on their way. Newbies are adorable. ^^
