I have to admit I'm getting a bit anxious for the translated video, also. I expected to see it Monday morning.
However... I understand that SE isn't exactly the UN and doesn't have high-dollar translators of that caliber. So I can cut them some slack.
We've gone a long way from being told that official forums would just be a waste of time because the devs don't speak English, to getting transparency like this. We got a Q&A summary on Twitter as the broadcast was happening.
Even the almighty WoW doesn't address their players so personally. Unless you're willing to shell out $175 for BlizzCon tickets.
Of course, the most important issue (for me) was covered at the very end, when Wada entered the room, and mentioned the possibility of a sub discount. That's what I'm really foaming at the mouth to read. It wasn't mentioned on Twitter, and I wouldn't have even known had it not been for Reinheart's translation. He is a true gem to have in our community.

Even if you're an expert in Japanese, it's no simple matter to translate what someone is saying in real time as they say it and also ensure that it's completely accurate. There have been errors the result of mistranslation or miscommunication before. I'd rather it be accurate than fast.
32 hours later... lol >.>!
Well thank you but why limit the ability to see this video on youtube BEFORE it's translated? You KNOW a lot of us want to see it anyway and I've already got links to 2 places where it can be downloaded. Even if there weren't any subtitles in it or any japanese learning opportunities to be had I'd still watch it just to see the pictures.
Is doing these limitations really a useful way to spend SE's time and money?
We all know it takes a lot of active supervision for a video not to be shown on youtube.
*cough XIIIVersus leaked footage on a billion accounts cough*
Thank you for the efforts of the XIV community for the fact that this sort of foolishness doesn't actually affect anybody at all.
How does waiting a week for something affect you? You can get anxious, sure, but do you really care that much?Well thank you but why limit the ability to see this video on youtube BEFORE it's translated? Arrogance at its finest.
I'm not sure why everyone is making all these excuses. I mean, it is the translators job to...well...translate. They're kinda supposed to be pretty good at it. Expecting live subtitles is a little much, but they should at the very least have the video ready with subtitles the next day.
Their sole workload is not these letters. I don't know how they distribute their translators around the company, but if it's the same people that work on the games themselves... yeah. They have a lot in their hands.I'm not sure why everyone is making all these excuses. I mean, it is the translators job to...well...translate. They're kinda supposed to be pretty good at it. For this thread I say onto you:
Less QQ more STFU.
Complaining about how long it takes to translate the words of the producer with 100% accuracy is 100% stupid. You have to live under a freaking rock with your head up your rear end to not understand that the video is not the only thing translators work on.
The dumbest thing of all is that if the translation were rushed -> Thus becoming inaccurate...the people who would complain about the bad translation are the exact same people who complain that its taking longer than they can handle to be accurate.
Seriously, get a life. Go outside and breath that fresh air and quit being so freaking ignorant.
