What would you do if you THINK you see inappropriate name?

If you see a name that you believe is inappropriate, place a GM call, report it and you are done. Nothing more to do. No need to go to a website or whatever.

GM's job to determine if the name is appropriate or not. If not, the offending player may receive a penalty (depending on the name). Things like racism are most likely to be severly punished. Offending player will be forced to pick a new name.

The above applies to retainers, linkshells and chocobos.

To those who say, "It's just a video game, why be so uptight? Just ignore it." There are real people behind the pixels. And offensive names can be just as hurtful as any direct insult.

It wouldn't be appropriate to see someone walking down the street with a sign over their head saying "Itchi Ballzak" or "Killda Whities" or "Nate Higs". I don't want to see it where I come to relax and enjoy myself.

But, as the above poster has stated, all you can do is report it to the GMs and let them decide if it's inappropriate. Hopefully they'll force a name change. If not? Well, those are the people I just don't party with. Because they usually have a personality/mentality to match.

But do nothing? Well, you know what they say about apathy...

Most of us play Final Fantasy MMOs because the community is better than in games like WoW or Aion. Running around with offensive names only brings down the quality of our community.

They are words on a screen - they can not prevent you from playing the game nor can they force you to do anything they are saying.

Except that once you read said name, it's in your memories. And if that name is vulgar, annoying, retarded or whatnot to you, it is a form of harm to many people, regardless of what you may choose to believe.

So I agree, report it if it looks to be against the rules.

Plus unless you tell them you are reporting them, they don't know who did in the first place if they need to change their name.

you may find it harmless, but some do not, that is the point being made here, I find it silly that people who respect the rules are the ones being called "childish" and "babies" for reporting such actions. If you dont want to be reported, then don't name yourself something so stupid.
