Black Mage does not need a Raise. Full stop. If you know what you're doing BLM has no problem in raids whatsoever and our AoE for dungeons is incredible. If statics are turning BLMs away then that's their problem and not the job tbh.
I'll never understand this argument. Black Mages have never been able to res, that's always been white magic. On top of that people are saying things like "it makes sense for black magic". No. It doesn't. Final Fantasy black magic is about dealing direct damage with powerful spells, resurrection does not fit that at all. Final fantasy black magic isn't the same as "black magic" in other fantasy games which include things like necromancy.
This idea really needs to be put to bed. Its not a good idea. and even if yoshiP got drunk on Soju or Sake one night and decided to make it happen.. at what point would you put it into your rotation? no black mage with self respect would risk losing astral or umbral for the time it takes to cast. Anyone who plays blm to a slightly high level, will agree that movement hurts dps, and you want to always be casting to ensure high numbers.. you dont want to interrupt your rotation to res someone. even if you have swiftcast/triple cast at your disposal. Your job is to make things go boom.
Even as a summoner now, i would refrain from using res as they are now more ruin dependent than before. Back in 3.x res on summoner was okay.. you got 3 dots ticking + garuda and ruin 1 sucked. They could afford to hardcast/swiftcast res.. now its different. The only caster class that can do it halfway effectively is RDM, and lorewise. that fits.

Black Magic is the magic of destruction. A Black Mage trying to resurrect using black magic would likely make the person even more dead as there wouldnt be a corpse anymore (or in much smaller pieces)
Please no, if you want Blm to have more utility give us a magic debuff or buff to increase magic damage on a target. Makes much more sense, gameplay and lore wise.

Actually there is magical damage buff called summoners contagion. It have 10% magical vulne with 25% uptime. Only physical damage buffs are brotherhood 5% with 16.6% uptime and embolden is average 6% physical damage buff with 16.6% uptime. Other buffs are buffs for everyone(if slashing/piercing not count). Contagion is stronger magical damage buff (for one person) than embolden and brotherhood combined. Only problem is we have 1 caster meta so black mages are not gonna see contagion very often on the boss.
hmmm "Rising dead" allows the rasing of another player inflicted Zombie and weakness for 60 sec, consumes all MP (min 2000 at 70)
