Do you want a cash shop in FFXIV?

I'm apparently old enough to be able to pay a couple bucks for something minor if it would help me regain motivation to play a game five years down the line. I understand the dilemma of people apparently having issues with their bank account or living check to check and I am truly sorry for those people, probably including yourself. I also didn't know about the barbershop, I think that is a great idea and hope they decide to truly push forward with it.

The items I stated were examples of things that a cash shop could list without it being considered broken because my belief that if for some reason SE DOES decide to include some sort of services like this that it shouldn't affect the gameplay of others.

The stuff you listed is not game-breaking no, but at the same time there's also no reason for them to be cash-shop items in the first place to begin with.

and no, trying to insinuate everyone who dislike cash shops as poor snobs who probably shouldn't be playing MMOs in the first place just makes you look like a pompous ass.

Cash shop in a subscription based game is literally nothing but a blatant cash-grab, and does little more than encourage the devs to shift resources to these "fluffs" instead of the actual game.

I suppose my intent isn't clear so I apologize. My point was if there has to be a cash shop in the game, it should contain items that shouldn't impact the economy. I don't want to be in an environment where the name of the game is how much money you can push into the cash shop.

If ideas like what I suggested are going to be in game then there is no need for a cash shop. But if SE decides to push forward with one and it has all of the elements a typical free mmo would have such as boosted level gains, items comparable to end game loot, or mounts that look like shiva (Ugh!) then I wouldn't even bother playing anymore.

Micro transactions are now very common place in mmos, and console games. Could very easily see them adding mounts, pets or different type of RP type armor.

Logically at this stage of the game a cash shop would be in the best interest of the game, everyone OUTSIDE this community expects it to happen.

The ideal cash shop has nothing to do with a lot of what most of you have been talking about, XP potions and crap we all agree are bad for a game, however cosmetics and rare looking items sell like hot cakes and do not affect the gameplay.

Trouble is SE is often behind the curve, let's say most of the time lately, and probably won't go this route. Personally I'd prefer if they did if only it can start diluting the narrow minded community we've got so far by bringing in a legion of players.

I still feel if its purely for fluff only items that's fine, as long as they fit with the game (no omg Blingy poo mounts/clothing) Or if they are going to be overly flashing we get a toggle to hide them an just see normal items..
An so long as you cant buy ANY game enhancing or altering items in any way at all this would include potions armour weapons anima (actually i could maybe give on that) and so on.. , let people with the cash to blow to spend it, just gives SE more money so who cares really..

As for the game time, Its a nice system, but I cant see it working on here like it does EvE.
EvE is a sandbox single server game, the markets would have to be linked cross server to keep prices fairly even and competitive and actually sell at a decent rate..
But even at that point, Im not sure the mentality is right for it in most average MMO's, and i seriously doubt he economy is going to work 1/10th the way it would need to really to make it worth it.
A Plex like item would revalue all the items around it, and without items all being made from a handful of core material groups, meh it would just get very messy for anything outside common items imo.

inch by inch they are gonna destroy mmo's and charge for every little thing in them cause of people like this willing to cough up whatever amount of money for these things. companies make way to much money on these easy to do and make extra's ...kinda sucks in my opinion. at some point i will rather not play mmo's then deal with this. but i agree with you ..this is the direction they want and they are slowly getting there. i for one will never buy a bagel cause they tax it in nyc. lol just me.
