This cloth requires x3 Worsted Thread

Worsted Thread requires x2 Halgai Mane and x2 Manzanai (sp? closed game already) hair, along with natron.

Most of the Serge recipes call for 2-3 pieces of this cloth.

The issue is that the drop rate on those items is insultingly low. I spent 30 minutes today killing the mobs while my retainer was going to fetch a paltry 7 pieces of them (his iLvl is still too low to get x10 each hour.)

So a single cloth requires 12 items that have a drop rate of about 10-20% on mobs that are NOT easy to kill (so it's not like the old Fleece days where a 50 could melt down eight at a time np) Most recipes also need a thread, so make that 16 drops.

In comparison, the similar items around that level for GSM, BSM, and ARM all require rocks from the ground. Farming up a single recipe's worth takes literally five minutes if you have the appropriate DoL class. Leather only requires 3 rare drops, not 12.

Please consider either increasing the drop rate of these items, or making the Worsted Thread recipe for thread only use 1 of each!

I'll..just..save you the trouble and tell you the secret. Have a battle class retainer that's level 70? If so then there you go. They can go out and get the Halgai Mane and Manzanai. The Natron is like a level 20ish? Alch recipe.

Out of anything my retainers have worked the most this expansion so far. >.>

Assuming it's 10 manes or hairs per hourly venture, that'd mean 2 hours worth of ventures would give you enough for 5 worsted threads, which is 1 short of 2 dawn serge.

Compared to the LTW equivalent (with the same assumption of 10 skins per venture), which would have you end up with 3 hides worth of skins after just 1 venture.

Do you honestly think this is okay?

Drop rates on mob drop items are totally stupid lately. It's another example of SE trying to stop gilsellers yet hurting the regular players more.

The solution back then was the same as it probably is now. Send your retainers for it. They are much more efficient in gathering mob drops and you can do other stuff in the meantime.

Retainers are another subject altogether and to be honest they need buffed too on items. Also in an hour I will get more than 10 killing them but effort vs reward is a joke.

In my opinion if the npc brings back 10 an hour I should at least get 30 by fighting the mobs in the same time span.

And OP said this "... while my retainer was going to fetch a paltry 7 pieces of them (his iLvl is still too low to get x10 each hour.)" So it takes the OP two hours just to collect the mats to make 1 cloth. @10 per hour you still don't even get enough to make 1 cloth an hour.

No idea why clothcraft is always the only craft to be so imbalanced every single time.

I recommend not touching worsted stuff at all, especially levelling. If you are leveling spam the Of Great Import leve, it's three kudzu thread in total, 250k per thread (multi hand in leve) but if u give HQ it's 500k is exp so 1.5k ish per leve. Kudzu is farmable unlike the worsted stuff that is a nightmare I've honestly barely touched and never want to.
