Most Americans i feel would not care really..atleast i could care less about someones virtual name lol reporting it would probably just be a waste of ur time really, i can imagine anyone with a name like ur describing would just find another vulgar name anyway. Those people will always be around just ignore it and dont let one person ruin any enjoyment u have in the game.

Considering there are alot of mature dialogues littered in the game to begin with ("base-born bitch" being among one of my all-time favorites), I really don't see what the problem is if it's not racist or bigoted.

Maybe if people started running around with names like F*ck F*ck there would be a problem, but the case seems pretty slight IMO and not really worth the time for anyone to bother with.

But in all seriousness, what is the point of Flagging a name 'similar' sounding to a 'bad word'?
Dixie is a real name.
and the ONLY people who would get "Dixie Normous" are people who have already heard the bad word.
It's too late to censor it now...
That's like making a joke about someone I never heard of, and thinking I'd get it. (If the point of the joke focuses on the identity of the person.)

It reminds me of Halloween, when I hear parents complaining about content on TV being too bloody, when a severed head is shown, but when it comes to decorating... there is nothing wrong with placing severed hands and other body parts in their front yard!

The point of censorship is for the general public who shouldn't have to put up with it, not so much for a teaching method. Teaching general curtesy is the parent's job. If someone hasn't learned that by the time they get on these games, they get to figure it out the hard way, if they get it at all. :/

Unless its racist or used as a personal insult I would just laugh and walk away. Hell dude on my server is named Frito Dick(in another language) and I laugh and Ho about my duties.

Sometimes it could be an inside joke like my friend's retainer named Keithsgaebolg which is a pun at me from FFXI when I begged him to help me get a gaebolg in which he replied "I usually don't go that way but the wife isn't home soooo..."

Well you are right, in "not wanting to deal with something" from he general public.
But most things on TV are censored for the parents, rather than because the general public doesn't want "insert blood cursing etc" in their movies.

The only reason I don't like those things in movies personally, isn't because of what blood is, but because the minds of most creators who put these things in moves generally suck at storytelling, and put up bewbs and blood, to advertise.

But I equally find the idea of "I don't want to hear your opinion, or hear your side of the story" equally damaging to our society.

Saying you don;t want to see some fat guy naked walking down the street, might be the truth for most people, but (1) you wouldn't care at all, if it was the normal thing to see, and (2) it's damaging to said persons self-esteem.
I'm sure everyone is ok with good looking people naked, and not ok with "not good looking" people. (Based on their opinion of the 2.)

The ONLY reason I would use censorship, is if it is harmful, and or can't be understood yet, until previous steps were taught. (AKA basic math before algebra.)

I personally wouldn't do anything no matter how hurtful the words are.

With that said, I would find it perfect acceptable for a person to be upset by names that have the Fword or racial slurs in them. At that point they may feel free to report the name.
