Gonna say it.
I think it's, in my opinion, pretty damn lazy for them to choose to make the event gear an item already in game that doesn't even look that great in the first place.
Not looking to start anything. Probably worded that a little harsh.

I'm somewhat stuck here.
On one hand I'm happy they are giving us dyable versions of popular dungeon gear in an event over doing their usual of either cash-shop only or high level glamour crafting.
On the other hand, I completely understand the frustration in that it's an already existing set of gear we can easily grind for now if you can get over the default colors and this means the data to make it dyable exists! So why wasn't it dyable by default?
:/
It's meant to be incentive for players to sub until the event or sub specifically for the event. That's the whole allure of seasonal events, you sub for that one period that event happens, and that's an instant $15 revenue SE has made. Now time that by the amount of people in love with the Shisui gear, but unsubbed as soon as Stormblood's MSQ was over coming back to do the event... it adds up. And that's why dyeable stuff isn't available immediately.
I'm not saying it's OK, but it's the reason why we're getting dyeable Shisui gear and nothing else.

♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥
Its also probably a way to allow people to glamour a single set over any job's gear they want, rather than constantly farming Shisui for every single set. It saves on Armory Chest/Inventory/Retainer space, honestly.
And in a year, they will be selling a dyeable version of dungeon gear on the Mogstation.
I do NOT like where this is heading.
Also, they're likely doing a rehash of a set because of the fact that the Rising is going to have a completely new piece of gear unique to the event. What looks to be a varsity letterman's jacket with the Meteor emblem on the front.
This and
this.My guess is that they don't need to put any effort into it because the expansion is still new and savage has just released so there's is no further need to incentivize people to stay subbed.
That's why the Rising event further down the line has that cool jacket and possibly minions, players will start unsubbing by then and may changes their mind to be able to grab the rewards.
That "money first" mentality they've starting going into lately is frankly worrying me.
Lazy with new gear designs, cash shop-only glamour, cash shop-only emotes... What's next ?
Not to mention they're not doing the effort to give us new summer/swimsuit designs in the expansion that gave us swimming (inb4 cash shop only).
A common, dyeable shisui set is nice, but I rather we get it from elsewhere and the moonfire event to give us full length (plain) yukata like the ones worn by NPCs in kugane. It's obvious (imo) that they don't really care about clipping that much anyway, might as well. :/
Friend/recruitment code for special items and things (use before paying first sub) RACN78W5 (updated) info on items here http://sqex.to/Cz9 code is entered via the mogstation.
I would most certainly complain. I'm already upset that they're implementing this set with absolutely nothing equivalent for those with male characters - heck, I'd gladly wear the dress if they can't be bothered to come up with anything new. Adding it as yet another in-game bonus set for female characters only would make me even more annoyed. We've been waiting for two and a half years for some equivalent to the last gender-locked female-only bonuses added to the Gold Saucer and still have no indication that it's really ever going to arrive.
(I know that Mog Station is a lame way to deal with these things, but at least that way the people with special treatment are paying a premium to receive it rather than being arbitrarily punished for picking the 'wrong' gender at character creation.)
