I understand that, however, play style mechanics within a job are almost completely irrelevant. Of course we want however the new tank plays to be fun, but the end result will always be: X buttons to press as CDs, some combo rotation, some OGCDs, and perhaps a mechanic that mixes these things up with a gauge.
Fact is, we got two magic based tanks that I think they should keep working on strengthening the magic part of their identities rather than bring a 3rd into it. Like I mentioned before, this could be our last new tank job ever, if not at least for the next 4+ years.
Make it something that truly makes all tanks (and players) want to play it. You may think BLU is this job, but I for one don't, and it would possibly be the first tank job in any FF MMO that I choose not to level.
BLU just seems more of a niche job that some people love.
My signature pretty much says what I want, but it's a similar idea to this Gunlancer people are talking about. I'd rather have a massive cannon though rather than a shooting lance + shield. Would be pretty awesome and fitting in with a Garlean theme too. I think it has the kind of mass appeal too that we should look for in our new tank too.
Of course, feel free to disagree, because I won't change my stance on BLU. It simply seems boring to me. Equally boring as the idea of a RDM tank. I think BLU would be better suited to being a new DPS job.
New Job Ideas
Fusilier (TANK) Purely physical; Weapon: Heavy Cannon
Necromancer (DPS) Melee pet job that builds up heavy magic attacks; Weapon: Scythe; Pet: Skeleton/Undead
Ranger (DPS) Ranged heavy DPS with minor utility; Weapon: Rifle
Personally I can't stand the thought of blu as a tank much less even in the game. I would much rather see beast master pet tank than blu any day. Given time I could probably come up with better ideas than that.
Most the days, the forums aren't worth it. Just people crying that their favorite job isn't overpowered.

Personally, I'd like a real counter tank. Not a little gimmick like what DRK had, but a counter mechanic as a core.
For me, this tank would have several combos and each could end in a special counter stance for a few seconds. If you get hit by an attack corresponding to your counter stance (magical, physical, heavy attacks, whatever...), you'd massively reduce its damage and deal a powerful counterstrike. It's directly inspired by the Swordmaster of Bravely Default, and, IMO, would have fit nicely for a SAM tank.

Mystic Knight - sort of a caster/gish tank.

For real, itll probably be a highly requested job at that
I would like they rather use resources to fix the tank balancing in general than expend them thinking on a new job for now...

Well, that is one of the two posters coming into all of our threads here trying to get us nerfed.
The only class I can think of possibly fitting would be Geomancer.
