Dragoon ideas.... Among other things

Just thought I'd share a small idea that crossed my mind at work today. Alot of mixed feedback about dragoons and wyvern pets after LFTP this morning.

What if dragoon was released in the first round of jobs strictly as a dd (fighting dragons) like it's suggested so far.

Then when the second round of jobs are released they include a lancer type job called "dragon knight" or something along those lines.

That way we have two separate jobs. One high level dd that fights dragons and one mid range dd with pet.

Any XI player would know the dark knight/dragoon rivalry so this could be dragoons from Ishgard kill em while there are sympathisers to the dragonswho fight alongside them.

Just a thought....

Lancer - Dragoon, Dragon knight (Dracken), Halbedier

Pug - Monk, Thief, Nin?

Gla - Paladin, Samurai, Knight (using Greatsword maybe?)

Arc - Ranger, Bard, and maybe something like Beastmaster???

Mrd - Warrior, Bloodknight?(Scythes/greatswords) and another class that allows dual weilding of smaller axes maybe?

Con - WHM, Geomancer, SMN (But summoning shards of primals i.e mini Ifrit made entirely from flames).

Thm - BLM, RDM, <isert something cool here>


I mean like I said earlier there are no good reasons to simply argue that "OMFGDRGNEEDSAWYVERNINTHISFIRSTROUNDOFJOBSCAUSEISAID!"

There will be other jobs coming down the line and who knows the new ones may even allow us to use new weapon type (as hinted in some ideas above). If I'm on my PUG and I've unlocked NIN when active I can equip daggers or katana. GLA has Samurai active, they can now equip G.Katana along with all the stuff he could equip as a GLA.

Dragoon is Dragon Knight, they are one and the same. Dragoon is just what the english translators thought sounded good. The actual job is still 'Dragon Knight.'

Also, to a wyvern pet: No.

Alerith I think you misunderstood the post.... "Dragon Knight" was just a name I pulled out the air.

Job 1: No pet, high DD

Job 2: Pet, Mid DD

Job 3: Mid to high DD specializes in inhibit moves.

Edit: The NAME of the job was of no relevence.

Where has there ever been confirmation of an expansion beyond 1 Class 1 Job? I mean, your theory sounds great to me! Level 7 classes and you're pretty much freakin' done forever! Sounds WICKED. But it'd never fly with this community. Ever.

I'D support it, but the only ideas I have that get supported are creative and logical ones - my "I don't really like repetitive actions if they're drawn out and monotonous" ideas I have just get me told that I don't understand how MMOs work.

Beast Master: Pet class. Go tame a drake and name him Wuffie. He'll be more badass looking than the little blue rat you're so attached to.

Dragon Knight/Dragoon: Critical! Stabs your drake named Wuffie with all the pent-up anger of being party reject for eight years.

Why screw up the balance of dragoon by giving them a gimmicky and retarded pet. Pet classes are notorious for being hard to properly balance, most of the time either being overpowered or underpowered.
