Regarding: Centurio Tiger mount

First off, i'm not entirely sure where this belongs as I don't post on the forums. With that being said, I have heard several complaints in-game about the requirements for the Centurio Tiger but never seen a post about it. Why? Do people not take the time to napkin math the amount of REAL LIFE GATED TIME it would take to obtain this mount? Why, does a mount that has no seemingly special qualities (special music, double seater, etc) have such a massive gate?

For anyone who isnt familiar with the mount or how to obtain it, it requires 2,000 S-rank hunt kills, and 3,000 A-rank hunt kills. That is insane. If you killed all 29 current s-ranks in game every four days, it would take you roughly 270 days to achieve HALF of the progress to obtain the mount. Approx. 9 months, and that's IF you manage to somehow be online for ALL 29 s-ranks every four days. Cut that number in half and your time-frame doubles. 500+ days for half of the progress on one mount. At this point, even Astrope would be easier to obtain - which is one of the very few two-seater mounts in the game at the cost of a whooping 2,000 mentor roulettes.

I am not sure of the general populations reactions towards this, but personally I think SE set the bar too high. For anyone who has a full-time job or cannot be in the game 12 hours a day will likely never see this mount. For those people who can play this game all day, every day, it will still take ~270 days to go from zero to achieve the s-rank portion of this mount.


small edit: seems I misread, it's 2000 s-ranks, which just adds even more time needed to get the mount.

I think that's the point. The longer you are subbed the more money they get. Simple really. Also, factor in how S rank hunts in ARR are killed in a few seconds should help exacerbate the difficulty of obtaining such an "achievement".

I'll wait for the white recolor version to hit the Mogstation - no way I would waste my time on this thing despite it being a nice mount.

But part of me is heartbroken, because I didn't know this existed.
But now I do, and I'd like to have it.
But I have a job... it's literally impossible for me to be on all S-rank spawns.

Our devs have this thing where they can't decide if the game is hardcore or casual, and flip flop regularly, while ignoring any options between the two.

To be fair it could be worse, they could be the former LoTRO devs who not only flip flop between those extremes but also single-player and multi-player aspects of that as well... Going from expansion to expansion it was a crap shoot as to which side they'd be favoring this time around.

You are overlooking something here and that is: Those achievments are retro-actively. Meaning: every huntmob you ever killed counted towards that achievment and mount even before it was in game.
While I agree that those requirements are a bit insane for a mount that a lot of people wanted, this mount is also a reward for every long-term comitted hunter.
I saw someone with said mount today - so that person must have been hunting before they knew there would be such a mount. Its for people like them, who enjoy hunting, not for people who only want an easy mount.

So yes, if you start hunting now and only because you want the mount - its terrible. I can imagine though that its a nice reward for every comitted hunter out there.

(You're also wrong on the account of "no one is talking about it" - there have been several threads about this since launch)

Maybe I'm alone with this opinion but: I'm okay with stuff that "not everyone can have". I dont like hunting. I'll never see that mount - even though the first thing I said when I saw the tiger in game was "OMG why cant this be the DRK-mount?! I would so farm this!". But I'm still okay with having rewards for certain people who are more comitted to certain aspects of the game than I am. This seems more like a reward for them - not so much like a carrot for everyone to participate in hunts and I'm fine with that.

I havent JUST started playing this game - my sub has been going for over a year now and I'm not even half way into those achievements. Hell, I'm not even 1/4. While I dont disagree long-term hunters should get rewards, and by no means should it be an "easy mount" but gating it behind hundreds of days and hours of straight playing this game is ridiculous.
