The Hyur/Miqo'te couple that give you the quest for Wanderer's Palace HM are probably not in danger of producing a crossbreed. However, they were still forced to leave their homes because of their relationship.

I suspect that interracial couples are still strongly disapproved of in general, but mostly because of tradition and inertia by now, and more well-known in the breach than compliance.

Hmm... I was kinda thinking that Sadu might be keen on the WoL herself. I mean she's a strong warrior and loves a good battle and the WoL is a powerful warrior that enjoys battling as well (various from player to player). Especially considering the WoL kicked all of their butts at the Naadam, as Hien pointed out and a tad terrified I might add, as I would expect Sadu to be interest in the WoL a lot.

    Just thinking.

    I prefer Yugiri myself.

@Kyran-Varlsen: The whole amount of members for each known Xaela-tribe is a bit low. The oronir have around 50 members (there was a side quest with a cook that mentioned it) but the tribe of Sadu have even way less. They already said that they have years with very little childbirth (which is right now) and years with a lot. Yet since the Nadaam is each year and people do lose their lives in it (otherwise the elder of the Mol would not have been worried about the safety of her people) I kinda wonder how Sadus Clan still exist. Children do need some years to grow up. Maybe they should have done the Nadaam every 10 years or something. At least way more time to get some warriors back.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

One of the Dotharl mentions that they suffered heavy losses in their battle with the Hotgo, which makes me even more curious as to why they opted to totally eradicate them. They've shown themselves to be a reasonable people who don't go picking fights without a good reason for it, though that might just vary depending on how strong their numbers are.

I hope that's something that comes up in a future MSQ segment at the steppe, since we've yet to have any sort of reference to the Alexander story in SB.

The cook in that quest referenced 50 Warriors, likely of the Oronir and not the Buduga. This likely did not include non-fighting tribes members, children and the elderly. The actual tribe might be closer to 100 or more. 50 warriors is a respectable amount for a nomadic tribe, especially if a portion of them are Yol Riders which (if used properly) can account for many non-flying warriors in battle.

I never got that impression from Sadu, she always seemed more interested in talking tough and proving what a badass she is. Frankly, she might see little use lavishing a wandering adventure with her attention considering how tied down she is in her home region.

But yah, Yugiri is very captivating. She is written with a focus and determination that comes off as quite endearing. Maybe my adventurer can convince the Maelstrom to give him a foreign posting in Doma? Limsa Lominsa & the Brugaire Consortium probably need to get in the game before Ul'dahn and the East Aldenaard Trading Company have all the fun in Othard

Iirc the Naadam is indeed every year. Especially if you compare it to the actual mongolian Naadam (even tho that festival is way less bloody)

Tbh I think the tribes are keeping their numbers high with defeating other tribes & absorbing the remaining people. If the Dotharl can't get their numbers up high again they probably get wiped out or absorbed by another tribe.
I also wouldn't rule out the possibilty of political marriages, to fuse tribes and believes. Sadu & Magnai would be a great example for that. He would have his moon and she would save her tribe +they both end the fight of the Oronir & Dotharl for the Dawn Throne. Even if their religious believes /traditions dont match 100% they could still be kept alive &maintained.

I really think that Magnai and Sadu will end up together, regardless of preferences just because of the sheer number of little hints dropped in the story as well as in some of the gear that drops from Bardum's Mettle. The BLM staff, one that very closely resembles Sadu's, is called "The Eloquent Moon", for example.

Personally I'd like to see him end up with someone; I just wanna be his wing elf and get him a date.

The Oronir don't really need the Dotharl to maintain their grip on the Steppes. They have retained the allegiance of the Buduga, a tribe composed only of men who maintain their numbers by recruiting new warriors or, more commonly, taking by trade or force male children from weaker tribes. In this sense they are more an Order of Warriors than an actual Tribe (there is an all female tribe to mirror them somewhere). While not strong enough on their own to dominate, their relationship with the Oronir ensures a fortified staging point at Azim Khaat so they are not at risk of being wiped out so long as a few of their number survive. For the Oronir this basically functions as a sort of cheat, because when they take the field at the Nadaam they fight with the strength of two tribes which is usually enough to guarantee victory against a divided field. That the Dotharl would even be considered contenders is a testament to their tenacity. But all the Oronir need to do is wait them out and let attrition take their toll on the tribe.

While Magnus may end up marrying Sadu (provided they don't kill each other first), it would take nothing less than the betrayal of the Buduga to make the Oronir even consider merging their tribe equally to the Dotharl.

Is it confirmed in game that the Naadeem is every year? I don't recall seeing that and I was sure I talked to every NPC between every quest. It just seems a really short time to rule.

I am currently unsubscribed but we should be able to view the cutscene through the inn when we first meet Cirina. It will be the scene where she talks about the Oronir and the Dotharl while a member of each tribe is quarreling in the Reunion Market place.
