y'all acting like its so super hard to get through with the MSQ. I also did it when HW was already released for half a year. Just quit whining on the forums and get through the story instead.
Its not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. So what if its gonna take you another few days until you can unlock AST? Is REALLY everyone suffering from short attention span issues these days?

More likely that they did that to not to make the jump potion service look like a scam for new players, when they buy the whole game + expansions and still not being able to play RDM or SAM until they are 2/3 through the content.

You only need do it once, and now with jump potions, you don't really need to do it ever.

Not sure what the complaint is? OMG, if I don't buy my way out of playing the game I pay money to play, I might have to play more of the game I pay to play.

One character can be all all classes/jobs. That's one trip through the MSQ. Done. The only remotely hard part of that is getting iLvl 230 to do Baelsar's Wall. The rest is just standard Final Fantasy fluff and dialogue.

But again, it can all be skipped for $50.

I know it sucks if your going for a specific job, but knowing that AST/DRK/MCH are blocked just enjoy the story until you get there. This is a FF game after all. Think of it as a Netflix show that you get to binge on. Once you catch up you'll run into the realization that you have to wait for the next episode.

ARR's story is honestly the worst of what we have available. Plus, MMOs are about experiencing the game on a class of your choosing. The fact that you cannot access a third of the game as certain classes is extremely frustrating - even more so when you recognize that there is literally only one job that can heal dungeons from the start.

Look as a roleplayer I have done the entire story 4 times. On the first time through I didnt care at all about the story. Now I just loathe it. My favorite games of all time are all SNES story-driven rpgs but the story in FFXIV is awful. Finally SB had an interesting story that wasnt jammed packed with filler. But lets not act like the dull, ridiculously long MSQ is netflix binge worthy.

"Awful story" yet the game is praised for its story? Hmm.. That's rather interesting.

I actually enjoyed HW's story more than SB sooo... Personal opinion != fact.

If you have the money to spare and you don't want to wait to unlock AST, I would highly recommend a jumping potion.

If you have an excess amount of time as a result of summer break or anything of the sort, however, I would say just power through it. I've done it on two characters now...and it was pretty painful the second time around, but you can get it done in a relatively timely matter.
