I don't mind the style (both CS and non-CS like this were present in XI's quests as well), it's a lot better than the generic MMO that throws up a box at you with some text that's generally copy/pasted with a few enemy changes.

Also, Ivalice (Tactics and Vagrant Story) has a bit of a different atmosphere from Eorzea thus far, so I don't think it's a close comparison, especially given the only real common theme would be the higher power (Twelve.)

Is reading a few lines of text that much of a problem for today's youth? Or is it the big words Square Enix uses?

I think the length is fine. However, I do wish they were interactive, instead of just the monologues that we currently have.

The length of conversations is perfectly fine, with the lack of any in-game glossary or a way to search of terms NPC's tend to get a bit wordy when explaining terms to the player that may/may not know what that means.

I have no issue with it, then again I don't mind thick books that tell a rather short story either.

I agree, primers would be amazing to have as a tab in our journal. Sometimes due to real life, or in game interruptions you are hurried along a cutscene or npc text that would make for an interesting read. Could have them listed as Places: Gossip: Lore: and Bestiary.

I love the long drawn out talky talk nonscene.

I do agree they should animate the characters a bit more, Yoshi did say that cutscsnes are very costly and require a lot of manpower which is probably why they have been lacking as of late.

He also mentioned that they plan to add a lot more voice over stuff so I'm sure they plan to fix it around 2.0, until then as with everything you just gota be patient.

You are totally missing the point. Its not about length. Its about how what is said, and its length, should be justified by the flow of the conversation.

Take a look at XIV's writing in full screen. The forum's resize doesn't do it justice. Read all of it.

In the video you'll find medieval europe styled dialog, but with natural flow of dialog. Nothing feels forced down your throat.

    I agree.

The NPC need to be a bit more concise. They are so verbose and fond of circumlocution, full of platitudes and roundabout ways of saying the most simplest of statements that might otherwise have been conveyed in half the words and a quarter of the time. It's such a waste of my time. Mine and yours.

Maybe if they add more voiceovers, then it will encourage the writers to pull back a little bit.

You character doesn't speak, Delita does. SE will always allow you to have your voice and will not purport to fill it in for you, which is why you get monologues. If you don't like looking at the log, look at the box of text in the middle. It'll be kinder to your eyes.
