Lol. That ward 12 justification is maximum cringe. Poor Mateus.

I agree with the OP. And to further the point, most of the replies in this thread are exactly why Mateus was better off before they opened it up for free transfers. The actual caliber of person behind the players on Mateus has significantly lowered recently. For the most part Mateus was a great place to play. Low population, small town feel, most people knew each other. There was housing available for new players and new FCs to get as they became able to do so. There was a community on Mateus that was simply not present on the larger population worlds. And it was really, really nice. But, those days are behind us now and we are, as it was so eloquently put to me recently "special....just like every other server." Which, as it turns out, is exactly correct.

There is nothing left of what we had, just another over packed world with no houses, RPrs screaming across the shout channels on every zone, and the general attitude went from welcoming and newb friendly to hostile and split 3 ways: 1)The players who have enjoyed Mateus and would really rather SE treated NA like they did EU and opened up a new server that way all the same community of people (mainly roleplayers from Balmung) could go to a place and establish a community that would meet their needs appropriately, 2) the ones who really couldn't care less and 3) the people who hated the servers they were on and so decided to come to Mateus and turn it, almost immediately, into a replication of the server they just hated enough to leave.

Sadly, most of the players who have come to Mateus over the last month fall into group 3 and offer absolutely no regard for the players who have called this place home for much longer. They have been discourteous, disrespectful and have negatively impacted almost every aspect of the server without adding one positive point to note.
I really think Square Enix could have handled this much better and made happy all of the paying players involved. This move shows that they really don't care about their player base or what makes any of their servers thrive nor what makes them different from one another. It clearly shows that they have no intention of doing anything to appease the people who basically just got the server we have called home be ruined.

The difference between EU's datacenter and Aether is that EU servers were equally full. They NEEDED more servers...The players who have enjoyed Mateus and would really rather SE treated NA like they did EU and opened up a new server that way all the same community of people (mainly roleplayers from Balmung) could go to a place and establish a community that would meet their needs appropriately..
Aether had empty servers. There was absolutely no reason to create a new spillover server on Aether when in a month it'd be ghost town #5.
Also: totally (un)related... They took our jerbs!I agree with the OP. Way to pack everyone into a little category that is easily attacked by your argument.
I'm sure the overall caliber of person has not changed, there are just more people... from all sides of the spectrum, so picking on the group you DON'T like and saying: "look! There's more of them now! They're ALL BAD!" is really easy.
But you constantly seem to be overlooking that there are just as many other decent folk who didn't want to sit in queues all day and just want to sit back and enjoy the game, like you.
I'm REALLY siding on you being one of those crafters or gatherers who feels incredibly threatened by an influx of competition to your market, thus driving down your profit. God forbid that happen.
Either that, or you really just don't like people and probably need to get yourself away from them as soon as possible. The moon is really nice, but if you feel you need to go further... Venus is still available.

"The overall quality and mindset of the community has been split three ways and generally degraded now that our server has been opened to free transfers and people have been arriving here in droves, even though it wasn't this way beforehand."
"Maybe everyone was always like this and it's just more obvious now! How dare you generalize a bunch of people like that!"
I mean, Ayrie, your perception COULD potentially be the correct one, but considering that there's been an observable change in the atmosphere of the server with this new population increase, kcrclark's point could be just as valid as well. Making a lot of assumptions here, either way.
It's not as though I'm in a position to say with any certainty, given that I don't play on Mateus myself. I'm certainly hearing a lot more stuff when it comes to Mateus lately, however.

I have seen more hate on people from Balmung for random as things than ever before lol. An S rank spawned, it had died before i got there, and I'm just seeing people in shout yelling at Balmung players, saying early pulling had never happened before the transfers came. Meanwhile, were sitting in PF for an A rank, shouted, no one joins the party. took us 15 mins to kill it, no one ever showed up.I mean, Ayrie, your perception COULD potentially be the correct one, but considering that there's been an observable change in the atmosphere of the server with this new population increase, kcrclark's point could be just as valid as well. I don't think anyone really cares about hunts, they just want to blame people for things.
If we assume the population increased by 5000%, but we assume that people largely operate in the same proportions on Mateus as everywhere else in the world (unless Mateus is really unlucky and draws purely unsavory characters). That means you get the same proportion of good, quiet people looking to enjoy themselves and not stinking up the place as you get "poo floating in the pool"."The overall quality and mindset of the community has been split three ways and generally degraded now that our server has been opened to free transfers and people have been arriving here in droves, even though it wasn't this way beforehand."

The only difference is... everyone notices the 50x more poo floating around.
It is easy to.
It is a lot harder noticing the others who just want to play in peace for the first time all expansion because before they were locked out for hours on end.
I'll continue operating with the assumption that people and population on Mateus are the same as they are everywhere else, and you have the usual assortment of quality players as well as the degenerate population.
That's the difference in the generalizations. His is specific and largely unprovable.

Your generalization is equally without solid proof unless you were to take some form of organized census to discover how many people, as of the release of Stormblood (counting early access as well), transferred over to Mateus, and maybe, to take it a step further, to see how many of them formerly came from Balmung at that. You're arguing theory at this point, while opting to assume a much more "transfer-friendly" stance as opposed to kcr's position on the matter.
