so whens Alphinaud gonna die or sent offscreen for a long time?

I like Alphinaud. Not as a person, but as a piece that helps drive the story forward. It's nice to have a character with actual character development written in, instead of more generic waifu/husbando bait we see in a lot of the other characters lol. We may not like the direction his development takes all the time, but that's part of writing a believable character. He's also one of the youngest in the cast, he's not as set in his ways as the more adult characters, which means his changing perspective makes for better story telling, if you look at it from a literary POV.

It's the same reason they don't create their villains around the generic idea of "Evil." If you notice, all the antagonists in this game have their own motivations, built around the fact that they are people, and not some cardboard cutout of a mickey mouse villain.

Edit: That said, I would like to see more from the other characters as well. Give them some personality traits we dislike about them, give them some proper depth and not just the basic overview of Yshtola = kind, stubborn. Thancred = broken. etc etc... I feel like there's a lot of wasted opportunity. But we also have to keep in mind that you can't have too many protagonists, or the story gets crowded and watered down. So unfortunately, some will stay as side characters for now. :/

Edit: Also I would like to point out, Lyse is not the protagonist in this expansion so far. She's a plot device only. She is meant to emotionally manipulate the player base into caring about this conflict in Ala migho, because she has the personal connection to it that we do not.
