all I have to say about that
How did that line go? Something on the lines of...:
do people run the content without rewards? if no redesign it.
What happened to doing things for the fun or challenge?

That's just silly. Thats like saying if you take the prizes away from a carnival game and you don't enjoy it anymore, then it was never fun to begin with. It was fun until you sucked all the prizes away...
I would love to see how many "casuals" would still play this game if content didn't drop glamour anymore. Or how many would be upset if they started giving out cash shop items for free every time it's a patch old. How many would still buy items from the cash shop at full price, if they knew the same stuff would be given out in a patch or two for 10% of the price.
This is part of the reason people's interest levels in FF14 are dropping off. At least for me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I prob won't even bother doing 4.0s relic because i know they will end up nerfing it 100 times by the time 5.0 comes out. If I do it at all, I'll wait till it's been made trivial.

Yeah that's basically what we did for the most part but sadly it wasn't enough, we even had flights going and saved up for smoother clear of 199, basically for almost all intensive purposes we had cleared.I wiped myself a lot on those floors, but usually to unlucky trap triggers. What my group did was we basically saved our Serenity pomanders unless we hit a floor that was a combination of Gloom/Items Unavailable/Auto-Heal Disabled (unless we happened to find one in a coffer), so we went into 191 with 3 Serenity pomanders. Starting at 193, we also alternated between popping Sight and Safety pomanders for each floor, so that we would either see the traps, or not have to deal with them at all. We got lucky to land an additional Sight for floor 197 (because we were cautiously going through it without one due to miscalculation), and for 199, we actually ended up with the Gloom/No Items/No Auto-Heal floor effect (which we all just sat there and laughed about for a good minute because of course the last floor would throw us a curveball like that), and had 3 Serenity pomanders ready to use. So I'd recommend saving your Sight and Safety pomanders until Floor 194, and then alternate between activating one per floor all the way to 199. We tried to stay stocked up on as many pomanders as possible, and only popped crucial ones if we absolutely had to.
On-topic: I'm really hoping it's a Glass Pumpkin --> Firecrest exchange, or something where people can only buy them if they've cleared Floor 200. I already know my rant and concerns are premature, and I don't have any issues admitting that they are. But it made me feel better to just rant about it, premature or not. If my rant was for nothing, well, it is what it is. I felt better just ranting about it, and some times that's just all you need. Now I'm just impatient and waiting for 2am PST so I can start Stormblood!
Friend/recruitment code for special items and things (use before paying first sub) RACN78W5 (updated) info on items here http://sqex.to/Cz9 code is entered via the mogstation.
Not everyone cleared Floor 200 on Day 1, and not everyone clears other content on Day 1. I just want to point that out. My point stands for any content: if people want the rewards from it, at least put in the effort to earn them. Don't expect them to just be handed to you. That's called an external reward and means you don't actually enjoy what you're playing. It means don't play it. If you need an external reward for what you're doing then the answer is don't do it.
As for what you have to show for it, you got it for a whole year before anybody else. Good job. It's been a year. You saved a year on it and got to play with it for a year.
I cleared Floor 200 literally 2 days ago. After many failed attempts. But I kept trying, I cleared, and I got my Firecrest from it. I plan to go in and clear it again. Why? Because I want to. Because it was fun.
I'm really sorry to hear about that. That's just rotten luck there. :c If you're ever looking for anyone to do a Floor 200 group though, provided I have the free save slots, I'm always willing to help. PotD is cross-server now with 4.0 release, so it should be easier to find a group and hopefully coordinate with them all. I'm honestly eager to get back in and work my way up to Floor 200 again; I thought it was a lot of fun getting there. And even with the frustration and the wipes, I still enjoyed the progression.

good maybe like to point them out cause I spent days looking for people and if that a mighty big if find 3 others we get to 101-150 or so and all sudden someone got to go and then spend a week or more trying get a time so everyone on to go further and then someone says their out cause 1 or 2 people can't get on at the same time or don't show when do and once more back to looking for others and I would like to get these yard trophies but again kind of hard when you stuck with random people who don't show up

I agree with OP. I actually never tried going after 100+ floor but I see normal that people could get a special reward by doing such a thing and I don't really understand why would they do this, but well... Hopefully when the "new potd" gets released we will get new items for those that complete it.
This is something I have never, and will never, understand in games. How exactly does what anyone else does invalidate what you have done? Does it make you forget the feeling you had when you finally beat it (I saw all of your posts of the struggle and your eventual success and you seemed quite over the moon for it, as well you should be). Does it make what you did any less of an accomplishment? When you look back are you going to remember "yay I got an earring" or "wow that content was really hard and WE BEAT IT!"
At the end of the day, you have the best reward of all... the knowledge that you successfully accomplished something that not everyone (and not even a lot of people I would say) has done. If (and I stress that IF) it is really on a vendor, what do they have? A piece of furniture and an earring. I don't know about you, but I would hands down take what you got out of it over what they did.
My issues lie with people wanting rewards without putting forth the effort to obtain them. The post you quoted was merely what I was assuming the individual I had quoted was talking about, not my personal views. This is something I have never, and will never, understand in games. With regards to my success, I am still over the moon about it, and I am using my knowledge of the later floors to try and help others clear the later floors, be it with helpful advice tidbits or actually going in with them myself, as I plan to do with my static and perhaps even a few other people that aren't on my server now that it's cross-server. But again, I think that if people want the shinies, they need to put forth the effort to obtain them. Not just be able to get them for nothing. And this is with regards to everything, not just PotD.

I can understand that, I think it is silly (not the appropriate word, but it will do) for people to want things but not be willing to do what it is needed to get them, but at the same time I don't care if they are given an easier way out. Not sure if I can articulate this well enough, but basically if someone is given a shortcut my reaction isn't "that isn't fair they got an easy button!" it is "look at those poor saps taking handouts".
We are different people, so I can appreciate your views on it. ^^ Perhaps one day I can adapt that way of thinking; might be easier on me lol. For now, it's still just "I wish others would just put forth some effort if they really want X item, rather than just expect to get it for nothing."I can understand that, I think it is silly (not the appropriate word, but it will do) for people to want things but not be willing to do what it is needed to get them, but at the same time I don't care if they are given an easier way out.
