So is you pulling "Viera is the most popular race and will have a huge marketing effect" out of your ass, just saying. Like Draco said, there is no data to suggest that anyone outside of this game cares about Viera in the slightest.

You can't claim all the people who voted for demi-beastman voted for Viera. Consider this poll:

What's your favourite way to commute?
1) By car.
2) By bicycle.
3) On foot.
4) Using public transport.

If option 4 wins that doesn't mean trains are the most popular means of transport when there are also other forms of public transport like subways, buses, trams and ferries.

Basically your poll doesn't prove anything about the popularity of Viera because that's not what the poll asked.

I have said my piece on that post already, but I was referring to players outside of the game who would be drawn to the game specifically by the Viera race, that poll is for current players.

Current players aren't aliens, nor detached in any shape or form from the general gaming community. What is popular among current players, given a large statistical pool, which it is, will be generally liked among everyone.

Also lol at the wolfdudes attracting wow players because they're "westernized". You seem to ignore that worgen are one of the least played races in WoW as well.

Everyone seems to see a new race, I see the possibility of them being some sort of cursed/ possessed, Garlean soldiers, who may have dealt with powers they didn't understand. I say this because the are specifically wearing Galrlean armor and wielding Doman weapons.

On second thought could those be Maki weapons? If so the idea of them being possessed is even more likely due the lore of Garo being heavily grounded in spiritual/ demonic themes.

I actually meant "the poll you posted" even though I said "your poll". I guess I should have been more precise. I don't care who made the poll because the results are what matters.

The point still stands that if a poll asks about demi-beastmen and not about Viera, the result offers information about demi-beastmen, not Viera. It's a very simple concept and the title of this thread doesn't change that. You can draw any conclusion you want, but know that purposefully misinterpreting what the results say will lead to a conclusion that doesn't represent reality. You have no reason apart from personal bias to assume that everyone who voted demi-beastman wanted specifically Viera, and personal bias should be avoided if you care about what's true and what isn't.

I don't understand why it always have to be "We against them", "This or that" kind of mindset all the time.
Do you like Viera, sure. Nothing wrong with that.
Do you like something else (Wolfman is the hot topic atm), sure. Nothing wrong with that.
Do you want either of them in the game, sure.

There's no need to go all offensive and fight for one or the other.
Show your interest and support instead.
Fighting over if some pixels will get added to a game is just childish.
Why does it matter if someone else wants something you dont? How does that effect your everyday life?
Does it feel like "your side" is losing if you don't stand up and fight for it?

There's already been an inverview where Yoshida said not to give up hope on Viera.
So he knows that alot from the FFXIV community wants them.

The thing with the Wolf People is that they are the first Beastmen we've seen that's wearing "normal" armour that you and I can use.
Which alot of people hinted at that it could be possible for it to be playable sometime in the future.
And what's wrong with that?
Maybe not as many people want a Wolfman in the game because they themselves would not play it.
But others might? And is that wrong?
Sure, the work to implement anything costs. But if SE wants to they could implement anything they see fit.

Personally I see that the more being implemented the more diversity we get.
Which adds to a more living world in my opinion.
