Decided to try Garuda Ex on my AST earlier (wondrous tails you are a fickle mistress.)

After 4 wipes where the ads were running rampant smacking everyone upside the head, I asked why they weren't being picked up, a DRG told me "learn to adapt" before vote abandon reared its head.

I'm seriously confused.

PSA: Tanks running Baelsar's Wall should brush up on pulling groups that have a ranged attacker and stack the group on top of the ranged mobs. Wipes on that first pull are almost invariably caused by the archer not being killed soon enough and overwhelming the healer with all of the dots it applies. Regardless of aggro, that archer will spam both archer dots on all four players until it dies, and the dot damage really adds up a lot. Even if the healer spams Esuna on the dots as much as possible it can be hard to do both that and maintain healing on the tank due to the large pull, and regens aren't enough to counter it. Having the tank stack the group on top of the archer by running the melee mobs over to it makes it so that it both dies sooner and is likely stunned or otherwise crowd controlled by various abilities being used and greatly mitigates and slows its deadly dot potential. And if that doesn't happen, I will give my commendation as a healer to any dps that single targets down the archer before taking out the group.

There's a few other cases in that dungeon that also rely on the dps to run their links over to the group, but none of these have the wiping potential of that first run.

I ended up in an ARF for 60 roulette today. The group had apparently just cleared the first boss when the tank and a DPS bailed. Knowing it could be upwards of 15 minutes before another tank showed up, I decided 'screw it' and went to see if I could pull off the impossible - tanking the entire second section as a Bard.

It WORKED. Brilliantly. So much to the point where we ended up going all the way past the elevator after the second boss before a replacement tank showed up.

Bards are freaking scary.

Props to Wythe Winde for keeping me alive through the insanity as an Astrologian who didn't even have ilvl capped gear for the dungeon, because lord knows the Monk for some reason wasn't helping me kill the 10+ mobs trying to eat me alive and kept punching away at the nodes instead.

I got chewed out for not healing at all in Titan hard mode earlier when my mp was 3/4's empty from spamming aoe heals because everyone was so messed up from standing in bombs. Granted I did take too long to figure out what to do with an ewer at one point and I had to slow res someone. But still ???? There is no way my mp could be that empty from doing nothing.

As a healer main I truly feel it is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation with dps'ing. This evening I went into Fractal as a WHM. It was a quiet run until the last boss. The BLM says they will get adds. I really didn't think too much about it but the tank was really good and I had not much else to do so I "assized" and brought the first set down pretty quickly then went back to the boss. The tank then says "the blm says they get adds, for some reason others think they should". BLM says fine I won't touch them anymore and literally stops all dps. I just say ok and we beat the boss with them pouting in the corner. As they were leaving the BLM gets onto me for not respecting a "BLM cast times" then leaves. So now I am expected to heal, dps, and respect others cast times? Tank and BLM were from same server so I assume they were together. Do we need a box to pop up at the beginning of a duty to let everyone know what the others expect of them in a run now?

I'm going to file this under 'people are stupid and this is why I don't roll with premades for roulettes, so I don't turn into a douchebag like these type of people'.

The whole party should be thanking you for actually saving them a lot of time. Assize has the advantage of having MASSIVE AoE and is also one of the highest damaging AoEs in the game to boot. It should ALWAYS be used to burst down add phases.

Every time I run Expert as BLM, I make sure to use LB on either the second set of adds in the last boss of Sohm Al HM, or on the crowd of adds in the second boss of Baelsar's Wall. And every time I do, I just love the feeling I get. The click of a button and all those adds are just gone. No mess, no fuss. If I could, I would print the scene on a shirt, with a caption saying, "This is how you take care of a problem."

But one time, I decided to run Expert as a DRK. There were no BLMs or SMNs in that Sohm Al HM party. And spoilt as I am, my god, that run felt so slow. I actually had to deal with the adds. Now I can't bring myself to run Expert as anything other than BLM again.

Shout out to my Expert party earlier today, thanks for all the comms. It's not every day a DPS gets all of them.

I've had thoughts about whether or not I should even bother LBing the pack of mobs after the second boss in Sohm Al HM. The hitbox for range LB is so narrow and the hitbox for the golems are so massive that they tend to push most of the smaller mobs out of the way, regardless of the angle I take. At that point, I kinda feel like I do more damage just going into my usual AoE rotation. Not to mention the damage of range LB for some godawful reason is 10% weaker than caster LB.

Just happened to me on Stone Vigil

Dps: Ninja 41 (me) + Bard

As it start without saying nothing the Tank start doing mass pulls. I try to dot everyone and spam katon each 20 seconds but anyone could see that we have a compo not suited for aoes. The healer finally runs out of mp, tank dies and we wipe.

Then the tank drops this pearl "If the dps are not gonna aoe im off" and he leaves the instance

And i wonder: What the hell the tank expected when as a ninja you get Death blossom at 42, so i was stuck spamming dots and katon each 20 seconds and the bard alone cant do miracles with his aoe?

Maybe he though ninjas can get aoe from their asses cos they are ninjas and bard class is now called Air StrkerxD

Edit: Most baffling is that i saw his profile and i found that he has almost all combat classes at 60. Should give at least enough knoledge to see that it wasnt a good idea to aoe with that composition at low 40s

Multi 60s probably PotD trained - level without learning... Far as pulling goes, I have learnt to just pull the first large set, watch how fast the mobs die, if they dont drop fast then I can take the rest of the run steady to allow the DPS to fully maximise, no point over pulling when the DPS isn't set up for mass AOE. As a main PLD it is almost a god send to see a party make up of less AOE attraction. Helps that me and FC healer run together so we only have to worry what DPS slot fills up
