Have you never seen a MCH perform a Wildfire rotation? Aside from the fact that many skills' animations flow well between each other, when you weave oGCDs, there's no way you can say a MCH going all out is "boring". It's only boring if you're doing it wrong.
I would suggest that you watch MrHappy's MCH video that just released a few days ago where he goes over all the MCH abilities while playing the MCH (he was invited by square to play on Stormblood closed server) many of the skills have new graphics and some look absolutely amazing now.

Heat increases your damage
Overheat decreases your damage for 10 seconds and makes you lose Gauss Barrel
Heat is from 50 to 90. Overheat is 100.
MCH toolkit makes heat management easy enough. The "analyse" skill makes you go to 50, and quick reload (now a 15 sec cooldown) decreases your heat while normal weaponskills increase it. There is also a OGCD that decreases your heat. So all the tools are there.

Honestly speaking in HW I really was not interested in the MCH gemeplay. Got it to 60 and played it a bit every now and then on expert and 60 roulettes but never got to me.
The SB overhaul looks way more appealing, specially now that I have the PvP weapon which looks the best! (cuz its not a giant single-handed cannon).
To be fair MCH gameplay pretty much involved plinking away for 40 seconds and then WILDFIRE-WHOO-I-AM-SHOOTY-MCDEATH-INCARNATE mode... And then 40 more seconds of plinking, at least in boss encounters (trash was pretty much plink+aoe). With the Overheat gauge it's going to feel a little like wildfire mode for an extended amount of time, with you doing your best to speed back into heated status one way or another, so I'm actually looking forward to it.

now i am confused lol.. so does "overheat" increase your dmg or reduces ur dmg lol?
It's been confirmed that Overheating is a 10 sec, 20% damage increase, with a 10 sec cooling phase. This lines up perfectly with the new Wildfire timer. Consider it MCH Berserk, except you can't Esuna the cooling phase.
Considering you can push yourself into it almost whenever you like, there's a lot of damage potential there. I can't wait!
