If they don't like/care for story, why are they playing a game with a heavy focus on story?
They'll just have to deal with it and skip cutscenes/rush through the story, if they don't like/care about it.
If that's too big of a deal for them, perhaps they're better off playing a different MMO, or a completely different genre in video games.
im a legacy player on my other account, i was there when yoshida took the game and made it better in some parts, i have played every FF except for 5 and XIII and even finished XI storyline
Saying this, People give to much credit to FFXIV ARR story line, and trust me SOME or MANY people like me doesn't find it that great (speaking of ARR)
Would you say another MMO has a better narrative?im a legacy player on my other account, i was there when yoshida took the game and made it better in some parts, i have played every FF except for 5 and XIII and even finished XI storyline

IMHO FFXIV ARR do have some quests that hurt the pace of the story, specially when if you take lore into account, soem of those fetch quests could be done by someone else other than the protagonist, for example those refugees at uldah, or the doma refugees or anyone else.
again IMHO A person can show Humility and do menial tasks, but when you do a LOT of menial tasks then that is not humility that is something else.
If you take the time and read every single main quest and dont skip the reading, you will see that even the characters laugh at the expense of the heroe.
Not a single patch MSQ need 3 months to finish
The MSQ pieces are maybe 1-2 days each patch.
So no, the MSQ quests alone are not worth of content released from the months of December 14 2013 to March 30th 2015. Only if you also do all the ex primals, all the tome grinds, all lv50 gear grinds and relic grinds together with the MSQ.

I do agree, just the only thing in the back of my mind is remembering this game is heavy lore centric. Where the story writers feel that EVERYTHING needs an explanation. From the key points of the MSQ to right down to what the scions like to eat and how its cooked to why Titan prefers Colgate over Scope. Great for the extreme lore fans but has me sitting here like "why does this concern me?" I think what annoys me the most is the handful of MSQ's that revolve around stating the obvious. "Yes Alphinaud...I'm so happy I spent 45 minutes doing this quest for you to realize snow is cold... >_>" Then again I wouldn't mind as much if they could come up with a way to make questing in general more interesting or try something different. Kill 3-5 monsters, gather 3-5 things. Talk to this person over here, then again ten feet away, then again in another zone...It just gets dull after a while.Agreed, I think this is what some of the other replies are missing. We realize that this would require some work to complete but there are dozens of quests that literally dont even mention anything related to the MSQ and could simply be removed without re-writing anything. At the very least that's what we're asking. I started an alt so that I could re-read the MSQ and I didnt make it past 20. There's way too many fetch quests that dont contribute anything to the main story.
Ugh. And I think the story is too short and I want more length.
Considering how many people out there I've heard complain that a movie was bad because it was 2 hours and 45 minutes long instead of an hour and a half long and give no other reason than that?im a legacy player on my other account, i was there when yoshida took the game and made it better in some parts, i have played every FF except for 5 and XIII and even finished XI storyline

You'll have to excuse me for not taking much stock in the "it isn't good" opinion unless someone presents a convincing case.
