I'd be very surprised if you don't get your wish and we didn't get a bunch themed after not only Japanese dishes but others from other countries in that region.

Ishgard has a decidedly French cuisine theme with its recipes while the city-state itself has numerous obvious French influences.

That pattern will almost certainly continue with Othard (along with recipes themed around whatever has inspired Ala Mhigos aesthetic/culture).

Knowing SE, if they do implement a mochi recipe it will be a 5 star specialty craft for no apparent reason.

I think they added onigiri. They showed it in the picture sets when they showed the large housing in the new area's.

What kind of rolls we talking here? .. Damn I want Sushi now... Actually one of the foods where I really enjoy the westernization of it (if you're in the US probably half or more of the rolls that are on your specials list in a restaurant, that are almost always the recommended/most popular ones, would also be ones "invented" western side). Meanwhile westernized Chinese food usually makes me cry, at least in my area a lot of it seems to be presented like fast food and only vague similarities (would be like judging all western dishes on a Chucky Cheese or something lol).

I wonder if each civilization/group in SB represents a specific Asian culture or if its all fused together, because we know that was said that there is not just Japanese influence but all kinds (just like how there are a lot of western influences all over the place but not really one specific place, less so obviously in SB). Probably best if they didn't make it "this is Japanese, this is Chinese" just to avoid the hilarious good fun time kerfuffle parade that is "cultural appropriation" xD.

Would love to see some type of Baozi, and we definitely need a Lazy Susan decoration.. would be cool if it could actually spin the dishes it holds lol.
