♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥
Next time I'll leave my DRG auto-attacking mobs without using skills. Let's see if people enjoy 0 effort extremely low dps.
She sounds like those healers that don't DPS since "that's not their job".
Im completely agree that SCH that is not DPSing is like a DPS not doing a decent rotation, lazy people that just want a carry.
Projection isn't going to help. I was once a healer that didn't know how to effectively fit dps in my rotations. Luckily I learned by practice and trial and error. How is leaving a duty and swallowing a penalty going to help a healer "git gut"? It not only hurts the healer's ability to become better (trust me, they want to get better) but it also doesn't help you a single bit. POTD is a thing now, newbie healers will pop up whether you like it or not. Shooting yourself in the foot isn't going to change it or help the situation. All you are doing is breeding resentment.
It's not like people don't want to help others "gitting gud", it's just that most of us have seen so much crap in Duty Finder that eating the penalty is so much more nicer than giving someone the benefit of the doubt and being verbally attacked because we are "elitists telling them how to play their job".
Funny, I thought LB was a basic mechanic of parties that is present in the very first dungeon of the game, not some endgame-raid exclusive. But hey, what do I know?
And there are plenty of people who are not one bit interested in getting better at this game, and would rather blame everyone else in the party for their own failures. Now that is what breeds resentment, more than someone who quietly leaves a party after being treated like trash for trying to help and offer advice.

I think I have to respectfully disagree with this. I've been in some runs with healers that refuse to DPS, instead choosing to jump around and do nothing, or, like an AST I had yesterday, spam their basic healing spell any time a tank took a little bit of damage, resulting in both MP issues and unnecessary overhealing; some runs where DPS are doing so little that I have out-DPS'd them on my tank or my healer; and some runs where they refuse to even use their most basic abilities (Heavy Thrust, Straight Shot, SMN DoTs, Fire III/Blizzard III transitions in Cutter's Cry or later...and don't even get me started on BRDs that don't use Wanderer's Minuet for that 30% damage increase because they would rather run around like a chicken with their head cut off), and the run lasted well over 30 minutes.
I don't consider it elitist at all to expect people to perform their basic job functions, or to refuse to carry lazy players. And when DPS is slow, or a healer isn't DPSing, I can tell a very noticeable difference in how long a Duty takes compared to if DPS was good or if the healer was contributing to DPS. I honestly don't know how non-DPSing healers can just stand there doing nothing the majority of the time. It's pretty boring, in my opinion.
The game may not explain how Limit Breaks work outside of the Active Help, but I would think for anyone who has ever played any Final Fantasy game, the LB should be self-explanatory with regards to how it functions at the most basic level. I honestly can't stand when it goes to waste, or when melee insist on using it on the last boss only when they hit 1%, because that's just wasted damage.
I've rarely ever left duties, and that's usually only if the party does not fill. But there have been times when I would much rather eat a penalty than carry 3 or 7 other people. Sorry, but that's not what I signed up for, and refusing to carry would hardly make anyone an elitist.

Hyomin, I like you. I wish we weren't on different data centers.![]()
While prior knowledge of other Final Fantasy games really does enhance the experience of playing this game, I don't think it's necessary, especially if people would just read the Active Help tips already. And class quest text. And skill tooltips. And basically just read in general. When I'm in level 60 content and I run into BLMs who don't understand the basic mechanic of their job, which is clearly explained in the level 5/10 THM class quest, my patience runs out there.
Seriously, people. Stop skipping quest text/cutscenes. There's important information in there, especially about core gameplay mechanics.

Nowhere in this discussion were we talking about this yet you bring it up. The projection is strong.
Limit Break saves a few seconds, a minute at most. Most of the time LB in the chat will do the trick to remind. But no, I guess ill leave since LB was not managed properly or the Healer isn't dpsing making us lose about 15% of our damage. Guess this will take us about 10% longer to complete boo hoo ima take a 30 minute penalty now.
