WAR has a number of skills that are based on stance, they could combine them into one skill that triggers ability A in one stance or ability B if you're in the other. Things like that.Oh Im very aware of that but Im still just kinda lost on how they could do this with heals and tanks. Like for instance there is literally nothing you could remove from dark knight they use every single one of their skills same with warrior. Scholar uses everything as well, whm maybe doesnt use one or two skills but I still use everything, and with pali I pretty much use every thing maybe not shield bash.
Something like dragoon or something would be easier you can merge those combos , blm can merge their skills but alot of others literally use everything. They just kinda let me down with the inv thing so I hope that this doesnt turn out to be as underwhelming.

Reading too much of the forums makes me very sad and apathetic.
Much of what will be happening will be moving most must haves (such as Provoke, Rampart/Shadowskin, Convalescence and Awareness) from the class/job list into the Cross Role list and dropping underwhelming abilities. This is going to free up a bunch of room on all 3 tanks.Oh Im very aware of that but Im still just kinda lost on how they could do this with heals and tanks. Like for instance there is literally nothing you could remove from dark knight they use every single one of their skills same with warrior. Warrior can easily free up a few abilities by combining Inner Beast/Fell Cleave and Steel Cyclone/Decimate into 2 buttons that change based on stance from 4 usable only in certain stances.

I kind of figured we'd get 2 new skills per job. Granted I won't be surprised if we only got 1. They can't continually trim abilities and skills with each successive expansion, so limiting the new abilities is the next best course. Then again they mentioned wanting to get rid of the Classes entirely and just have Jobs, so if that revamp happens in an expansion they'd have room to properly trim and provide new abilities.

They could always give us traits again.

Hell, I use a macro to do that already. That'd be nice. Also combine a bunch of MCH's shared-cooldown skills, please. Especially Dismantle and Rend Mind.

I would not be adverse to this to be honest. Some traits are really great and drastically change the way certain skills function, and I like that. It has a bit of a progression vibe to it. You become so proficient in the use of a skill that you develop new ways of utilizing it and such. Just as good as getting an entirely new skill.
The traits just have to actually be good. Not, 'Increases duration of X,' or, 'Increases damage/healing by Y%.'

This could make basic to learn things more interesting later, that might be nice - but please not be stuff like +5 strength... XD
For space saving they could also make the stance a toggle itself. Oath toggle, click to switch between sword and shield (two abilities now one).
I don't use a controller but I'd add at least on PC for tank that I have some empty spaces and I have all abilities on screen, and the PvP ones. I think some jobs have it worse than others, when people find it helpful to stack up very similar macros (like I've heard the 1 - 8 healer hot bar lol).
Empowering the macro system a bit would also likely lead to a lot less abilities on screen (if say someone likes to always use similar cooldown abilities together), removing that unqueue-able factor and native significant delay for example would be good (that you can't load it into memory like regular non-macro abilities).

For Dark Knight, they can take some of the buff skills like shadow wall & dark stance and apply the effects to the combo skills to free up those skill slots, They can take Souleater and Delirium and put them on the same button to combine them (probably not though), they can remove shadowskin altogether and add the percentage to shadow wall, and reduce the recast timer to make up for the fact that its just 1 skill instead of 2, they can take the effect from either delirium or soul eater and apply it to Power Slash and have power slash increase emnity, but also have the secondary effect.
For warrior, the popular theory would be to make the skills that you can only use with either Deliverance or Defiance and put them on the same buttons, so the effect that would happen would depend on which stance is activated. That literally cuts the existing job skills in half. The can take the effect for either Storm's Path or Storm's Eye and apply it to Butcher's Block, and open up the lines for the combos so that Skull Sunder or Maim can lead to either Storm's Eye or Storm's Path.
I've leveled everything to 60, and im sure there are other things that can be modified for the other jobs, and the addition of the skills can make using the existing skills easier, or have the effects applied to those as well.

I've played all jobs to 60 on PS4, with the additions of the left & right W cross hot bars, I have not been able to fill every slot available to me, and playing the jobs are very fluid with that inclusion. as long as the number of skills don't increase, controllers will be fine.Im so interested in seeing how they handle this especially for ps4 or controller users cause I mean we where told about gettin extra inv space and 40 slots is far less than I expected. I keep thinking that the only solution is gona just be to simply merge combos which I wonder how many people are gona like that exactly I personally wouldnt mind but Im assuming some others would.
