I think you're mistaken. Even the people who are sticking around don't like all the systems. The ones that are broken (spam Standard Synthesis while watching TV, f'rex) will still get plenty of feedback.I'm a bit worried by the people bashing this guy and his opinion, and what direction they'll attempt to take the game in the absence of anyone with an opposing viewpoint. You all seem ready to defend SE against anything and everything despite all the mistakes they've made, and I have to ask how that's helping SE, or why you think SE even needs defending in the first place.
Right now I'm more amazed by how this thread became a hot topic than the contents of that video.
10 out of 11 people i poll'd on my ls are staying. so yea :/
Considering how upside down this game is.
People cheat by either botting, or using exploits to get high levels. High level ranking is faster than low level, inflation is rampant to the point where a noob can't even afford noob gear. FFXIV is dead.

lol really? Its dead? I bet if I logged on, my 40 character limit would be capped. Its more alive than ever.
Anyways, good points made about Botting and exploits, but that exists in about every game. The low level economy is based around an excess of new players start to play. Since everyone is already high level, it will be hard for new players unless they have friends that can help. My point being is that there wont be an economy for low levels until more newcomers start to play, which should be around 2.0 and PS3 release. From that point on, The low level economy should get better.
Has nothing to do with botting or exploits, those were just cheaper and faster ways to reach level cap, and that's it. Nothing to do with low level econ.
I haven't read the article yet, but are you high? The game is nowhere near dying? Sorry, but I thought the population was pretty damn low, at the moment. If you mean dying as in it can maybe make a recovery in 2.0, then I agree. If you mean the game is populated as of this moment, then you're lying to yourself.Seriously, 8 out of 10 people in my linkshell is going to stay and pay. The other two will come back to at least try the free version just before 2.0. This game is nowhere near dying. If the community was that bad it would have been dead already. Yes, payment will scare off a few people and we will at least lose 20%-25% of the players, but it is not going to die.
Sounds like someone needs to go back to school and learn basic reading comprehension.
This quote:
It was sarcasm. So if the only people who play this game come to this forum, then this games player base is extremely small.
Tanoshii was implying that the people on this forum seem to think that this forum represents the majority of the player base since 100% of the people on this forum play the game. That's not the case, since probably the majority of people playing the game do not post on these forums, but a lot of those people DO post on other forums. Somehow, this is one of the few forums where the vast majority of people are claiming they'll pay for the game before 2.0. That's not because the people voting no on the other forums don't play the game, it is because not everyone who plays, but will not pay until 2.0, posts on these forums.
That was the point of that post, and for you to post a catty remark when it's transparently clear that you did not understand the post, it is highly ironic.
I don't think this game is necessarily going to die, however it's on life-support. If there are any major problems between now and 2.0, I think SE will pull the plug or be forced into bankruptcy.
Those who are old enough probably remember SquareSoft's (now SquareEnix) last disaster "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" and the mess that created.
XI never even had those sub numbers. You are kidding yourself if you think those are even remotely possible after all of the bad press XIV has already received. Simply re-releasing it and calling it 2.0 does not negate the stereotypes surrounding the game.
