You completed your animas for your reasons, I completed mine for a different one. Your failure to accept that people may have completed their animas for different reasons shows you to be very narrow-minded. Accept that people have different motivations and get over it.

Gear is and always has been a driving force for a lot of people in MMO's. Maybe for you it is not as important but you need to understand that a lot of different people play this game. It's the same when some people don't understand all the fuss about glamour gear and emotes or gardening because they think stuff like that is pointless. People aren't just upset over the fact that the gear they have worked hard for to achieve is now being outshined by 280 weapons. It's also just an unfair system to begin with because it is exclusively based on RNG. Some people will be doing this content forever without getting anything out of it while others hop in once and get a weapon right away.

And you need this weapon now for what? For what content is this so important or is it just the fact one has to have the latest and best weapon in order to be happy? Pesonally I can buy the disapproval of the raider community given in my view raid weapons should be the best weapons in the game but in reality at this point this weapon really isn't needed by anyone.

I don't think you've read everything I stated, otherwise you wouldn't quote me with a statement that goes beyond just the argument of the ilvl of the weapon.
It's not just a slap in the face for raiders and relic grinders, it is a fundamentally flawed system because it is tied to rng. The best gear in a game should never be tied to an rng factor as it only rewards a lucky few while some others will never get it despite trying just as hard or harder.

I understand what you're getting at but I think the principle of what I'm trying to say stands.

We're in the "end of expansion" phase where item power doesn't mean a whole lot. The final patch has dropped and FFXIV is following MMO tradition of letting players obtain powerful gear fairly easily for the few months left it will be useful.

I maintain that we should focus on our pre-expansion checklists or take a break instead of worrying over what amounts to nothing.

Everyone can get a relic weapon granted they spend enough time. If you don't have enough time then you can do raid content. This new weapon however throws all of that out of the window.
It's the same how, in my opinion, the BiS crafting gear you get from WT is a bad thing, but at least you can still have gear that is on par by penta-melding the regular crafted gear.

And the whole "what do you need this weapon for" argument is retarded. You might as well say: "Why do you need any gear ever? It will become useless at some point anyway".
That is just a dead argument.

The only reason I repeat myself, is because people keep posting "I don't understand why people are upset.", even though it's explained by myself and others multiple times in these threads. Don't agree is fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But they should at least understand. People need to respect the opinions and motivations of others, even if they don't share them.

I understand that. I also would like a link to where it was stated that Relic weapons would be biz? I spend a lot of time here on this forum and I don't recall ever reading that. Some may have had the expectation that it might become biz but I don't recall it ever being explicitly stated that it would. The i-275 step was a surprise to me. On the other hand I know I've seen endless discussion about what a waste of time relic is and that it would never be anything more than a glamour piece.

Relic weapons were BiS from completion until HW. Expectations were that anima would follow suit and nothing was ever said to contradict that the whole way. People who had that as their goal got to bask in the triumph for a whole nine days before being blindsided. It comes down to communication, or lack thereof from the devs.

What do you need this weapon for argument is not retarded its the truth. Can you honestly say that folks cannot do any of the top tier current raid content with a 275 weapon that you most certainly need the 280 weapon or folks just cant complete it. These weapons do not in any way invalidate the time and effort people spent on their relics. If anything it still shows your dedication to the game. I am still working on my relic for my main and you know what the 280 weapons have not made me say to myself screw it whats the point because my 275 weapon will still carry me through all the content this game has to offer.
