But A BIG HAIL NO to closing off warp points just for the sake of closing them for some fate event. Not everyone is into that and this is a theme-park MMO so it wouldn't work.

Dynamic fate like content will need to be updated on a constant basis and stay relevant for the life span of the expac (roughly 2 years) and will need to be turned off when a new expac drops.....

Fates are design to be a drop and forget kind of content... we do get some tweaks here and there but its basically there for getting exp while waiting on dps queues and used for other content like relics.
What the hell do you even need to warp out to? There's nothing in the non-instanced world worth anything.

Basically they just should take inspiration from GW2 Dynamic Event as much as their multi-path dungeons, 'cause our corridor dungeons are boring as hell too.
GW2 would have been almost perfect if it wasn't for the lack of challenge once you reach the max lvl, nothing was really hard. But seeing the difficulty drop each patch in FFXIV, GW2 will probably stole its place in my personnal MMO classement. At least I won't have to pay a sub of disappointement each month.

FATEs sucks. 4 person dungeons and Palace of the Dead is where it's at. Don't have to see too many players, don't have to travel and see the open world, must set apart 25 mins (or more on bad groups) to do instead of being able to jump in and out, and, best of all, they offer a familiar playstyle as they're what I've been doing in endgame for 3 years!

Literally win-win condition, just remove FATEs already! They keep reminding me that this is a MMORPG, absolutely disgusting!

I kinda feel sorry for Koji-Fox, he tried to make some FATE descriptions funny but nobody reads them because FATEs are so boring. What a waste of time, theirs and ours.

FATEs I think still have a purpose of providing a leveling option, especially if you're a DPS with some time to kill with those queue times for dungeons. The issue is that once you're done leveling, FATEs don't have much point, and have even less point nowadays with the increased reward value of PotD. In order to make FATEs more ideal, they need to be made as rewarding as PotD is now.

Diadem simply reinforces this case. As salty as players are about the rewards, you still have to ask yourself if people are doing FATEs now. You can argue all you want about why, but ultimately that short answer will always be "yes".

did you not do all the fates?

there are some that change the world. the battle of high bridge fates have cases of npc being kidnapped.
beating a fate in south shroud can unlock an area if you beat it.
thing is people do it once then not again.

then you have odin, which takes the form of the player who last killed it, name and everything. imo not lackluster. Alot goes on in the fates, and a lot pop at one time. Gotta becareful not to go overboard, so it doesn't screw players over.

    I like fates.
Easy to jump into. Has a touch of lore. Sometimes changes the next fate if you win.
It gives the world some life and things to do when you have run out if other quests.

I Like FATES. So your argument is invalid.

    I LOVE Fates...

You guys have GOT to stop confusing 60th level with... like... every other level in the game... FATES are perfect for leveling characters especially when you're leveling a lower level character and running around doing quests or dungeons or whatever... and stumbling onto them for some great exp, a little bit of fun to break the monotony... and great for getting Seals.

Stop saying... Nobody.... when you really mean... upper end raid level game... those are not the same thing...

Also... what exactly is the point of even bothering to get to level 60 if all you ever do day in and day out is RAID RAID RAID the same dungeons over and over again... I have been to upper crust levels of so many MMOs at this point that I already know thats the primary reason I get burned out on good MMOs...

I LOVE raids... but when that's all you are doing every time over and over again.... sooner or later it will get old and burn you out...

So you might want to think about that.

I appreciate FATEs as they provide an alternative method for obtaining exp. That's one great thing about this game - there are lots of DIFFERENT ways to get exp. You don't have to grind any one thing unless you choose to do so. I can run a couple roulettes, hit up PotD for a bit, then relax with a few FATEs, do a couple Beast Tribe quests.

All removing FATEs would do would be to take away one of our options. I can't say that I'm a fan of that solution.

If you HATE FATEs, it probably means that you did nothing but grind FATEs from 1 to 60. If that's the case, the problem isn't with FATEs - its with you. Don't worry so much about what is "optimal" exp - just do whatever you feel like. The levels will come.

None of this is to say that I don't believe FATEs could be improved. As the OP mentioned, it'd be cool if FATEs had a bigger impact on the world. But they certainly aren't bad to the point that they should be removed, or that no new ones should be introduced in the upcoming expansion.
