What equipment and materia should a THM shoot for?

Just hit 41 THM, and until this point I haven't been worried about equipment at all. I've just been shooting for gear with the highest defense a THM can wear to ease soloing, but now that I'm getting to the point where I want to start building my THM properly, I realized I had no idea what to shoot for.

Brand and shield, or two handed staff?
    What gear sets are recommended?
Magic attack materia, or magic crit potency materia?
    INT, PIE, or MND?

And just to mention, I originally rolled THM to support and debuff, not nuke or heal, if that changes anything or not.

    Thanks for any help.

    PIE and MagAcc.

Shadowsear/Banish/Scourge rape too, so INT/PIE/magatkpot/magcrit will help that too.

    Ive been going for magic-acc/piety/mnd/mp/hp

I think electrum scepter is you best option. Pick any shield, and add lifethirst to it

I have yetto see evidence that INT does much of anything yet, so I am leaving it alone. I am going PIE/Mag acc./MND
not so much MP as MND and PIE both add that with other benefits, in the slots that PIE/Mag acc./MND are not applicable, I put HP.

The returns seems to be rather low, for the base stats. I.E. Int, Mnd, and Pie. Like 4 pie = one enfeeble or something close to that. Granted Mnd and Pie help your mana pool. Finding gear with the potency you desire for your play style seems to be the best course of action.

I still have to test this better.

In my recent test. your are correct. 4 PIE= +1 enfeebling magic.......I havn't tested heals much, or beneficial magic or what ever its called. I have yet to test the stat value or any true effect of intell.

I pretty much Main Heal on THM.. MP+ , Healing Mag. Potency and - Enmity are our best Materia Options.. with that in Mind.. you can make some beastly MP Builds.. now I see that you are only 43 but.... I use this gear at 50 for Main Heals.

My main wep Varies.. atm Ive just been using a Water Brand until I can a) Attach two +15 MND materia to it or b) a perfect Healers Hand Materia IV ( very rare )

Water Brand (w/ MND Materia or Healers Hand)

Raptorskin Targe (Lifethirst IV Materia Attached) +28 HP +16 MP

    Electrum Circlet(Rubelite) w/ 2 Manathirst III's for a Total of +85MP on Head..

Felt Robe (Red) (Attached a Manathirst IV) +84 MP Total

Raptorskin Satchel Belt (Attached Manathirst IV ) +47 MP Total

Felt Gaskins (Brown) (Attached Manathirst IV) +56 MP Total

Mahogany Pattens (I decided to put 2 Hells' Fist III's for a total of +18 Magic Attack Potency)
(make sure they are uncoloured as the coloured pair are Doh only)( I'm at work but I am pretty sure you can attach MP to Feet here so you can easily do that also, and they come with a base stat of MP +10 also which helps)

Boarskin Ringband of W/E Ele ( Pre much only Materia of importance you could put on these would be Sagacious Might Materia) or Dated Toadskin Mitts ( They do give +27 MP but not able to Meld Materia to it so )

Accessories = X3 MND +7 Rings or X3 +7 Piety Rings... or MP Wristbands

This is my basic healing set.. I need new boots for it lol.. but other then that its pre much done besides trying to attach 2 Materia into each piece of gear that needs it..

Also the Out of Sight Trait from Archer gives -10 Enmity, so Id look into getting that as well

    Hi there!
For you, what is the most important to lower the resistance of DOTs : PIE or MagAcc ?

PIE have a very small effect on enfeebling magic (5 PIE for 1 enfeeling) but does magAcc help on dot or just on nuke? :/

PIE affects your own magic evasion, the strength of your DoTs, and your max MP. It has no affect on magic accuracy/resistance, that is controlled by MND.

It seems to me that Magic Accuracy > MND in terms of reducing resists, but I don't have any parser data to back that up so take it worth a grain of salt.
