Do you already have 1 of each of the 13 Coven weapons? Until you get one of the i280 weapons for a job, the Relics and Alexander weapons are not worthless.
You might very well never own a Coven weapon even if you did Diadem constantly until 4.0 releases.

You are wrong, when doing speedruns, every single stat counts, and this is such a massive upgrade that if you ignore it, your runs will suffer because of it. These weapons are atleast 100+ mainstats worth of damage boost, its not minor, its not insignificant, and it sure as hell isn't unnecessary or "not needed" for speedkilling. So, atleast do your research before spouting nonsense like this.
Also RNG grindfest is not fun. You are just deceiving yourself if you do, and should a dev read your feedback, they think we, the players love it, even if no one does. Diadem is stupid, they should have left it dead, and do something actually smart and fun, take PoTD for example. Well done side content, that didn't take a piss on all the playerbase by rewarding super good weapons and gear for people who don't deserve it. You got to earn your rewards, not get them for free because your mom told you you are special and your feelings matter.
People are so over dramatic.... I'm glad SE ignores this subforum often.
Complaint about this complaint about that I don't like this I don't like that....
HW IS DONE. Enjoy what you've got left and if you sick of this or don't like it you know where that door is.
You're blindly assuming they haven't when you have no absolutely no idea and this most certainly isn't a representation.
Let's put this in simple terms:
Diadem 2015:
- Released before Midas (Like right before)
- Included BiS Pink gear (that would be required for Midas)
- Stats were above and beyond what was currently available
Diadem 2017:
- Releasing before a jump in 10 levels
- Includes BiS pink gear that will help in leveling
- Stats are above and beyond what is currently available
- However the next raid tier is ten full levels and an entire expansion; and 4.0X patch away
The state of the game is different right now, and complaining about it now is pointless.
If they do it with Eureka? Call me an idiot, say I had no idea and that you were right.
But for the love of the twelve give them the benefit of doubt that they aren't THAT stupid.

So Diadem took a long time to release so they could turn it into FATE land, add portals to bottom and new room for mini raid which is a mess? Okay SE. I'm starting to think this team has ran out of ideas, They need new people with new ideas coming in.

No I don't and thats not my point. My point is that raiding by design should drop the most powerful weapon in the game. As it stands Anima also fills this slot as it takes an entire expansion to get (and it comes long after the raid weapon). I'm not sure I like the idea of diadem (which I shall henceforth call "obscure side content" for added meaning) giving out something that is even better. Yes the weapon is rare, yes maybe it should be equivilent to raid and anima due to its rarity, but it should not be better. Raid and Anima weapons are worked on under the impression that they will be BiS, which they are unanimously not in this patch, are you surprised that people are rubbed the wrong way?.
I was under the impression that we still had 3 months (which is about the length of a patch cycle) left. People got their final relic weapons last week, and are being told that they aren't BiS anymore, and that isn't really acceptable.

But since you don't have any control about the drops it might also happen that exactly those 3 weapons drop which you just finished.
I think I'll just don't do any Diadem. Currently at 7 A12s tokens again and I don't want to keep them for eternity because, since I know RNG, whatever weapon I'd buy it would also be the first to drop for me. Same for relics.. I rather just finish my WHM relic within this week instead of risiking to invalidate it by a lucky drop of a real grind (relic was, except first step, not RNG, it was just time-consuming with a set finish line). No, thanks.
All the "defending" People here, what exactly would've been wrong with this approach:
Relic: Time-consuming (but with set limit of stuff you have to do), no rng grind, 275 weapon, choosen stats
Diadem: Time-consuming, rng grind, 275 weapon, randomized stats
Raid: "Time-consuming" (in terms of you might have to do 8 clears over 8 weeks), rng drop/no-rng buyable, set stats
This would've been perfect and cater to enough people to keep it relevant.
Also: The raid tier is over when the lockout is removed, echo is added and all of the upgrade items are available per 24-man and/or hunts. Until that point the raid tier is current content.
And, please tell me, what is good in invalidating current content?
Stormblood isn't here yet. And it's also not 1 month before it, it's more like 3 months.

Edit: wasn't needed frankly.
Diadem 1.0 flopped and they more or less made the same mistakes instead of just scrapping it. Yes, I'd say they ARE that stupid in this case as they kept talking about it, completely re-working it. What'd we get? FATES. The same things they have to FORCE onto relic quests to keep relevant. But for the love of the twelve give them the benefit of doubt that they aren't THAT stupid.

Don't need to. Completing Zurvan 10 times, A12S 8 times, buying a Shire weapon and Augmenting it and completing the Anima questline are all far more reliable ways of getting strong weapons for when 4.0 releases.
Are the Coven weapons more powerful? Yes. Do I expect to ever get one? No.
Getting a Coven weapon is similar to winning the Jumbo Cackpot. Would it be cool for it to happen? Yes, but I'm not expecting it.
