If the formula is still the same during stormblood will you still be playing or leave

I'm not pre-ordering Stormblood until I see what the combat changes for 4.0 entail, but if the general content format remains the same, I'll leave. I left before, came back a couple of months ago to experience the Heavensward storyline and (possibly) Stormblood's initial storyline, and there won't be enough to keep me around after the 4.0 content is finished if SE's update cycle doesn't expand.

Staying. This isn't new to this genre, and the game isn't going to change. Its literally just expanding what we already have, and I like what we already have. That's why I'm playing it and pay for it every month.

If you don't want to play the same game you've been playing thus far, buying and playing the expansion isn't going to help you. You would be better off just playing a different game altogether.

Why are statements like this necessary? Your first sentence is fine and on-topic, but for pete's sake, people need to stop suggesting that those who aren't happy with the overall direction of the product leave. They can make their own decisions. Some do leave, some provide feedback for a time and then leave, and others stay despite feeling the title could be much better. Everyone's aware there's an option to cancel their subscription; we don't need it pointed out to us.

What other MMOs do is irrelevant regarding the OP's question as he didn't asked "will you still be playing or chose another MMO ?".

I was just stating that the op is acting like this is some unique thing that only ff 14 does only when its not, thats why I said what other games have more content in the mmo realm. Im very aware that people have other gaming options, but his description just sounds like mmos in general to me not just this one. So it looks like the answer for him is what the person below him said and thats to just simply move on because I dont really see anything changing.

I will be staying. It took me a long time to realize that FFXIV cannot be the only mmorpg or game I can play and be my sole entertainment with the content cycle it has. I am subbed to WoW and its nice to jump into a more casual mmorpg like FFXIV on the side and be totally catched up. WoW currently has a very RNG based loot system with RNG legendaries (some are required to be anywhere decent at a class) which makes players grind the same content over and over so they do not fall behind in their raid teams in terms of dps or face getting the bench. Its pretty much has turned into a grind competition against other players. There are some in my guild who play WoW 6-8 hours everyday some over 12 hours and get lucky with the RNG Diablo like drops while playing Blizzard's "flavor of the month" class. The gap between the players who no life and who play moderately hardcore has grown tremendously and the meters reflect that. Its nice to come back to a mmo where that is not the case. FFXIV is a very casual mmo and the patch cycles with the catchup mechanics reflect that. Its just nice that if I have the skill I can do the content I want, on the class I want, and not have to worry about all the horizontal gear progression or class nerfs which could hold me back from any content because I do not have xyz gear despite parsing 80% or higher on a fight. Also like to add rerolling in WoW currently is insane and pretty much at this point people are stuck with the class they started on for endgame...class nerfs, bad legendary luck and all. I support FFXIV being more casual.

I was making a statement that the game we are playing right now isn't going to change simply because an expansion is coming. It's going to be the same exact game it was before, just with more dungeons, higher level cap, some new jobs, and more places to go. Anyone that wants the game to change and to be a different game when stormblood releases would be better off playing another game, cause that isn't happening. It's not meant to be rude, just enlightening.

To be honest though, the OP's post made it seem like he was completely and utterly tired of everything that encompasses this game, and if I were him, I would choose to play another game rather than buying an expansion and continue paying for a game on the monthly basis that I'm not having fun playing. He doesn't like the grind, he doesn't like the areas, he doesn't like the gear, he doesn't like the dungeons, and he doesn't like the difficulty. Would you continue playing a subscription based game that you hate so many of its core factors? or would you find another game to play that you actually enjoy?

I didn't understand it like that...but I'm not really interested in other MMO, so maybe my mind focused only on what FFXIV does "in a vacuum" and if it's good enough to keep playing.

Flash news...some people don't like that. And the "stick to the same formula" has been mentionned to Yoshi-P has a potentiel boring aspect of the game, so OP is clearly not the only one to think that way.

well raijin's response to ops start post def has more likes than the ops statement so at least on this thread , not many people share ops opinion, like I said as far as mmos go there really arent to many games better than this one.

Didn't say he was the only one, but even just going off the majority of this forum thread, as well as the hundreds of thousands of people that still play the game, I would assume most people don't seem to mind it, and people who don't like it stops playing, as they should. No one should continue playing a game they don't like.

Well, either way I'll be quitting when bf and I move to Laguna Beach. Surfing > all.

But till then...I'm staying. Only thing that will make me lose interest before then is if they keep throwing stuff in the cash shop (expand on it too much) and if there is nothing to do again like HW launch with that large gap, yea that'll do it.
